Currin Seniors

Our Quarter final took place on Sunday evening last against Scotstown in Sean McDermotts, where we fell short and are now out of the Championship.

We opened the scoring with a point from play and went five points to two up taking advantage of a black card for Scotstown. However, Scotstown brought the game back to 0-6 to 0-5 going into half time.

We were forced to make a substitution at half time due to an injury Jack McCarron received in the closing minutes of the first half. Unfortunately, we received a black card and Scotstown equalised at 0-7 to 0-7. But we pushed on and were awarded a penalty which was converted by Tiernan to leave us

ahead by 1-7 to 0-7. But a straight red card for Tiernan saw the tide change and saw Scotstown push on bringing the score line back to a point after a number of wides. We did go two points up coming towards the end of the game, but Scotstown scored two points to leave game going into extra time at 1-8 to 0-11.

The first period started with Scotstown scoring an early goal followed by a point. Once again, we were forced to make substitutions because of injuries in an already depleted bench. The first period of extra time finished us trailing 1-09 to 1-13.

The second period resumed with us finishing out the game with another point to Scotstown adding four which left final score of 1-10 to 1-17.

Overall, this was a very disappointing performance by the lads and unfortunate injuries to key players and the red card made it an uphill battle.
