Championship Fever:
It’s true to say that there is a championship buzz in the air with both men’s and ladies’ championship action at different grades in both codes.
Corduff Gaels:
U15 Division 5B Championship Final: Congratulations to the U15 team and management on reaching their second final of the season. This Saturday they play Truagh at 4pm. Venue to be confirmed. Best wishes to the team and management. Please show your support.
Intermediate Championship
Corduff Gaels returned to Intermediate Championship action on Saturday last in sunny Inniskeen.  Sean McDermotts proved to be formidable opponents. It was Corduff that got off to the ideal start going 1-02 up by the 15th minute. From here on Seans began to show their dominance which continued to the interval by which time they were 1-06 to 1-04 ahead.  Directly after the interval they added to their tally and a 2nd goal stretched their lead to 2-07 to 1-04. At this point Corduff came right back into the game with a succession of points putting the sides level in the 14th minute 1-10 to 2-7. The sides levelled once again on 1-11 to 2-08 which was to be the last time as Corduff maintained their lead winning on a score line of 1-15 to 2-10. Congratulations to the team, Seamus and his backroom team on this win. Next stop, the Intermediate Championship Semi-Final on 9th October against Toome. Venue and time to be confirmed.
Corduff Ladies:
U12 League Final: Big day out for Corduff Ladies U12s this Sunday as they play in the Division 3 League Final against Monaghan Harps. This is a super group of girls who along with their mentors have put in a huge effort all season. The final is in Clontibret at 2pm. Best wishes to the team and management. Hope to see good Corduff support there to cheer on the girls.
Minor Final: Carrickmacross was the venue for the Monaghan Ladies Gaelic Minor Final between Corduff and Donaghmoyne last Sunday. This was the Minor team’s 2nd appearance in a final this season. Corduff’s dominance was obvious from the throw-in as they took a commanding lead . It was mid way through the half before Donaghmoyne registered a score. Corduff continued to dominate proceedings. Donaghmoyne did have a much better 2nd half but it was Corduff that cruised to victory to be crowned Division 3 Champions. Massive congratulations to the team and management Ciarán, Terri & Barbara on this achievement.  The panel was as follows: Tracey Hill, Courtney McEntee, Katie Walsh, Holly Higgins, Eleanor McKeown, Francesca Gomez, Niamh McCahey, Kerrie-Anne Walsh, Abbie Finegan, Ellie Rose Ward, Niamh Murnaghan, Fiona Corrigan,Charlotte Higgins, Amy Nugent, Moya Hegarty, Rebecca McGivney, Holly Cassidy, Francesca Gomez and Jasmine Monaghan.
The late Tommy Feeney, last year’s Minor Manager was remembered in a special way and his daughters along with Bernie presented the cup to Corduff’s captain Abbie Finegan. Members of Tommy’s family were also present from Donegal and we thank them for attending. It’s hard to believe that it’s a year this week since Tommy passed away so tragically. As a mark of respect the team visited Tommy’s grave after their victory. Tommy’s 1st Anniversary Mass is this Sunday 2nd October in St Michael’s Corduff at 11am.
Intermediate Championship:
Having already won the Intermediate League title Corduff Senior Ladies have their eyes on the Championship title. This Sunday at 11am in Corduff they play Brigid / O’Neills in the semi-final. Best wishes to the team and management as they hope to register another win and book a spot in the final.

Yours in Sport,

Mary McEneaney
