Clones u16 Ladies
Clones u16s girls  played the shield final on Sunday past the 11th in Monaghan harps ground against donaghmoyne it was a dirty wet day and the rain came down for most of the match donaghmoyne scored 1-2 in the opening 9 mins  clones had put 3 wide and a shot at goal by Sophia o hart was well saved by the donaghmoyne keeper sadhbh Bonner got clones 1st point on the 17th min then donaghmoyne got another. On the 24 min Eva freeman scored a super goal  and shortly after Kirsty Mc Donald who had just come on got a point with her 1st touch that left the half time score 1-3 to 1-2
The second half started with Aoibheann Mc loughlin getting the equaliser  and straight after Erin Connolly putting clones in front by one On the next run of play up the field donaghmoyne got a questionable penalty that put donaghmoyne 2 in front they soon got another point. Clones hit another 3 wides and on 41st min donaghmoyne got another point on the 46 min Sarah Mc caughey was denied a goal by the crossbar with Kirsty Mc Donald putting the rebound over for another point Aoibheann Mc Loughin soon got another to leave it a two point game donaghmoyne headed again to the clones goal and a great save was made by Katie maguire but with the clones defence  getting a small bit loose Donaghmoyne got another point  and in the dying minutes donaghmoyne scored another goal leaving the full time score 3-6 to 1-6 donaghmoyne  the winners the clones girls fought hard against a very physical donaghmoyne team and they wore there clones  jersey with pride to the final whistle, the fact it was ever girl on the team first final to ever play in there might have been a wee bit apprehensive !! Next year here we come. Thanks for the great turn out of supporters that made it to cheer on the girls.
