St Mellans Park Summer Carnival

Sunday the 7th of August saw Carnival 22 take place in St. Mellans and from Start to finish the day was a massive success. The day kicked off with the opening parade lead by This years Monaghan Rose, Rachael Woods escorted in Seamus Mc Kenna’s Harley Davidson. This was followed by all the kids toy tractors and lorries and there was a wide variety. Colin Walkers Stilt walkers and hug bears also joined in with the opening Parade.

With the opening parade over the crowds took to the field to take part in the wide variety of side shows and activities, from hook a duck to goldfish, amusements, and novelty races. There were lots for all ages throughout the day.

With the sun shining all day it was time for the musical entertainment to take to the stage, The Moon Rockers started the evening off and had the whole crowd up and Jiving. The Jiving Competition then took place to win the Hughie Mc Kenna Cup.

Finally, it was time for The Louisiana man Robert Mizzell to take to the Stage and he didn’t disappoint. The crowds flocked to the dance floor and never left it from the first song to the last.

Of Course, this weekend couldn’t have happened without the help of our fantastic volunteers and the support of the local community so a special word of thanks to all who helped out of the weekend and those who came along.

We are looking forward to Carnival 23 already.
