GoGo Games: Our youngest ballers (4 – 11 years) continue to develop their skills with training each Tuesday evening from 7:00pm. All the children are having a great time and plenty of fun while making new friends as they develop their skills, thanks to all our coaches/mentors who give their time so generously. On Saturday last the children attended an U9 blitz in Killanny, the weather was not the best as the heavens opened, this did not stop the young ballers however, they played out all matches and had a great day. Huge thanks to Killanny who hosted this blitz and also treated all the children with refreshments afterwards. Special shout out to Jack Wilson who celebrated his birthday with a great performance on the field. This Saturday 27th August the U7’s will enjoy a blitz in Blackhill at 10:00am. Please spread the word to your friends, family, neighbours and relations, new children are always very welcome.
Seniors: The senior team were in action on Sunday last, 21st August in St Victor’s Park for round 3 of the Intermediate Championship against Tyholland. This was a game played in great spirits in good conditions, with a great crowd in attendance to watch this encounter. There were some great moments of play from the home side and a few very good scores to keep the crowd entertained. Toome opened the scoring and had a lot of conviction in their play, with some fantastic scores from William, James, Joey, Patrick and Ryan. The visitors were getting a few chances but were unable to finish, Toome had one or two goal chances in the first half that did not find the net as a result of some good goalkeeping. However, Ryan did just that moments before the interval with a great bit of skill and accuracy to put the home side 8 points in front. HT Score 1:10 – 0:05. Patrick was off at the interval due to taking a hard knock at the end of the first period and was replaced by Liam. Tyholland were up for a battle and they came out in the second to try and get something from this match. Toome were still in the driving seat having built up a good lead in the opening period. Scores from William, James Frank and Liam extended the lead to 12 points with just about 10 left in this match. Tyholland dug deep, Cormac Quinn who was playing some outstanding football came off for the return of Red Tom. Thholland broke through and there was nobody able to stop them as they scored a goal to reduce the gap. Then with some great work from the back to the front and a special bit of ball between James and William, the home side found the net also. Gary came on for Ryan, then from nowhere Tyholland were up again and scored a well taken goal that Hugo had no chance of saving. Ciaran replaced Shane and Stephen replaced Sean with only moments left of ordinary time. Tyholland kept coming and produced another goal, this left Toome with a bit of work to do in the closing stages and James stepped up to produce another class goal to put the lead back to 8 points and the final whistle. FT Score: Toome 3:17 – 3:09 Tyholland. Well done to the team and management on this brilliant win. There is a break next week in the Championship and then Toome face Monaghan Harps in the next round. Huge thanks to all the loyal supporters who turned out to support the lads. #BeThe16thMan.
