Emyvale G.A.A Weekly Club Notes 11-08-22
Our teams upcoming games:
Intermediate Championship rd 2: Away to Doohamlet on Saturday evening at 7pm.
U17 D2 Cup Final: Emyvale v Clontibret on Monday 15th at 7pm, venue tbc.
Good luck to all our teams.
Huge Congratulations to Emyvale players Holly Mc Quaid (C) and Aine Mc Quaid who both played massive roles in the Monaghan Minor Team’s ZuCar All Ireland B winning success, defeating Longford after extra time. Well done girls, we are all very proud!
Intermediate Championship: Our senior squad opened their championship campaign off with an enterprising win over Cremartin on Saturday last in Tully. Cremartin started sharply with an early goal before Emyvale replied with a point. The hard running Robbie Mc Allister blasted the net with a goal inside the opening 10 minutes and from there on both sides traded scores with Emyvale taking a 1 point lead into the halftime break. From the restart Emyvale never relinquished the lead and had enough to withstand a late Cremartin flurry of 4 points to see the game out on a scoreline Emyvale 1:16-1:12 Cremartin.
Our next championship fixture is away to Doohamlet at 7pm on Saturday.
U17’s: Our minor squad had a hard fought Div 2 Cup semifinal win over a tough Latton outfit on Monday evening in St. Oliver Plunkett Park. 4 goals by David Duffy along with a gritty and determined team performance saw the home side take the spoils on a score line of 4:12-2:16. Well done lads. The final takes place on Monday 15th at 7pm (venue tbc at time of press) with Clontibret the opposition. Management will text with training details.
U15’s: Training as normal. No championship details yet.
U13’s: Management will text with training times and days. They lost their opening championship game to Eire Og last Saturday in Tully by 3 points. It was disappointing for the team as they all tried hard and they showed a lot of
endeavor throughout the game. They definitely will improve more as they return to a full squad.
U11’s: Training as normal next week. Our U11’s played a Liam Stirrat league fixture last Saturday away to Donaghmoyne and came home with a good win. We also played Truagh in Tully on Wednesday evening. No result at time of press. We travel to Silverbridge on Saturday morning for the Silverbridge tournament. Details to be sent to the group.
U9’s: Training resumes as normal. We enjoyed a great morning’s football in Smithborough on Saturday last, where Eire Og hosted the blitz.
U7’s: Training as usual on Friday evenings.
Ladies Div. 1 League Final: Our ladies team faced familiar opposition on Sunday last in the form of Donaghmoyne in the league final in Drumhowan. Emyvale raced out of the blocks to gain the early lead and showed a lot of enterprise. However, Donaghmoyne hung in and the halftime break came with both teams’ level on 7 points. From the restart Donaghmoyne hit an early goal and try as Emyvale did, just could not get to grips on the second half as they did in the first half. By the final whistle, a frustrated Emyvale team had to settle for second best on the day but will definitely take inspiration from their first half performance come championship time.
U14 Girls div 2 team suffered a Championship Quarter Final defeat on Monday evening (8th) at home to Harps. On Tuesday evening the div 4 team travelled to Magheracloone for their championship quarter final but unfortunately couldn’t come away with the win either. Hard luck girls.
U12 Girls play their next div 1 game this Friday evening against O’Neill Shamrocks in Clontibret at 7pm. All support greatly appreciated.
