Currin Seniors

Currin V Killeevan

On Saturday the 13th of August we welcomed Killeevan to a very sunny Currin in the second round of the championship where we came away with a much-needed win.

Killeevan opened the score with a point before we found the back of the Killeevan net. A couple of points were traded on both sides just before the water break due to the intense heat.

From the break Killeevan found the back of the Currin net to leave sides level at 1-3 to 1-3.

But another good move saw us find the back of the Killeevan net and before half time, we added another couple of points to leave us leading 2-5 to 1-3 at the half time whistle.

The second half resumed and both teams scored a number of points however, we were guilty of some poor wides. Thankfully, the game ended with a home victory.

Currin V Clones

On Sunday last, we made the short distance to St Tiarnach’s Park in the third round of the championship to face Clones in front of a large crowd.

Clones got off to an excellent start and went three points up to no score up. We registered our first score shortly afterwards before Clones took another point from play. However, we started to get in to game playing much better football and our score line was displaying these efforts. We were trailing by a point at 0-8 to 0-7 before we hit the back of the Clones net. We both added points just before half time to leave us leading by two points at 0-9 to 1-8.

The second half resumed with Clones securing an early goal and pushed on adding further points before getting their second goal leaving score line of 2-10 to 1-8. Clones were just too strong for the lads and added further points leaving the final score line of 2-15 to 1-12. We did push to the end, but chances went a begging, and we could not find a much-needed goal. In the end we lost by six points.

On a positive note, it was fantastic to have Jack back and impressed as usual even though heavenly marked.
