Castleblayney Faugh’s notes week beginning 22/08/2022

Seniors Men: On Saturday past we faced Truagh at home in a disappointing 6 point loss. Our next game in the championship takes us to Carrick to play the Emmets on Sunday 4th September at 2pm. Get out and support the lads!!

Senior Ladies: On Saturday evening the Faughs Ladies hosted The Monaghan Harps in the Junior Championship. The old adage of a ‘good start is half the battle’ proved to be true as the Blayney ladies came out strong and through some great shooting gave themselves a strong lead at half time. Their defence stood firm in the Second half despite some concerted pressure from the Harps. The Faughs ran out comfortable winners in the end against a Harps team that didn’t get going on the night, yet are likely to have a major part to play in this Junior Championship before the competition ends.

U15’s: The 1st team got their championship round robin league campaign off to a solid start with a hard fought win over Donaghmoyne on Thursday last. In a low scoring first half, Blayney held a narrow half time advantage. The second half went home the home sides way and they controlled play with a flurry of late scores giving the score line a more comfortable look than the game was. They travel to Carrickmacross this Thursday for game 2, with a 7.15 throw in.

The 2nd team faces a strong Monaghan Harps team away on Friday last. They battled well in first half with only a goal separating the sides at half time. But the home side got the second half off to a good start and never looked back. Blayney face Clontibret this Friday at home at 7.15.

The 3rd team have played some great football alll year and this continued on Wednesday last when they faced a strong Corduff side. Despite missing a few regulars, this young side battled from been 8 down and lost by a narrow 1 point deficit with some chances left behind them. But they deserve great credit for the football they played. They face a trip to Truagh this Wednesday with a 7.15 throw in. Good luck to all the teams.

U14’s: The girls took on Scotstown in the Division 1 Championship Semi Final in Scotstown tonight. The girls fought to the every end but came out on the wrong side against a very strong Scotstown team. The girls done themselves and our Club very proud. Our u14 team has had a great year getting to the league final in Division 1 and Championship Semi. Well done to all involved.

U10’s: Great display of skills on show by our under 10s in aughnamullen blitz on Saturday in very tough conditions. Well done to all the girls who have continue to improve all year.

U9’s: The boys braved the elements last Saturday morning with a home blitz against Doohamlet and Crematin. We had 3 teams (25 lads) turn up in very tough conditions, well done lads on showing some great skills in tough conditions.
