Under 19: To Celebrate our success this year at Under 19 level there is a gathering of our players and supporters this Saturday night in Aughnamullen Social Centre at 9pm. This was a great achievement by our club to win an Under 19 competiton for the first time in our clubs history and it’s a great opportunity to celebrate this among our players and supporters and everyone is invited to attend.

Under 17s: Our Under 17 squad reached the final of the Division 2 shield competition with a comprehensive victory over St Finbarr’s on Monday night last winning by 6-11 to 1-10. The foundations for this victory was a dominant performance in the first half where Aughnamullen ability to score goals was evident to see. St Finbarr’s aided by a strong wind went into a 3 point lead however 2 quick fire goals by Bobby Mc Caul and Padraig Lambe left the boys a couple of points up. At this stage St Finbarr’s kept the pressure on but resolute defending by goalkeeper Conor Mc Mahon, defenders Paraic Mc Entee, Luke Johnston, Cillian Traynor, James Connolly and Luke Phillips kept them out and upfront goals by Chris Geoghegan and Bobby Mc Caul left us up by 11 at half time 5-2 to 0-6. In the second half the boys chipped away with points by Patrick Markey, Callum Hughes, Justin Geoghegan and a goal by Jack Loughlin and to reduced St Finbarr’s to just a few scores with the aforementioned defenders and substitute Tommy Mc Eneaney to the fore to run out winners. Next up is the final against Killanny in a couple of weeks’ time. Best of luck to the team and management. All support welcome.

Under 15s: On Friday evening last our Division 5B Under 15 claimed the Shield title in an exciting win over Castleblayney in Blackhill on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-09. Aughnamullen started brightly, being

the more clinical in front of goal, however a goal from Blayney looked to have swung the balance when the Faughs found themselves in a purple patch. A well taken goal from the impressive James Burke, as well as a point from Tommy Mooney following a brilliant team move were the highlights of the first half and kept the boys within touching distance coming into the break. Blayney once again found momentum in the second half and opened up a five point gap, looking strong coming into the closing stages. Credit must go to the boys, who put the pressure on Blayney and turned the game around to draw level in the dying minutes. A point from Jason Cassidy and a brilliantly taken goal from Jack Ward with the last kick of the game ensured that the joint-captains Peter Woods and Ryan Markey lifted the cup. Well done to the team, which was as follows; Conor McKeown, Ryan Boyle, Ned Bevis, Sean Kerley, Dylan Hamilton, Ryan Markey, James Burke, Jason Cassidy, Rhys Geoghegan, Tommy Mooney, Peter Woods, Jack Ward, John Woods, JP Connolly & Hugh Daire Hamill. Congratulations is also extended to the management team of Philip Lambe, Gerard McGeough, Martin Woods, Phil McCaul, Patrick Geoghegan & Brian McArdle. Our Under 15 A team play Magheracloone in the final of the Division 2 League tomorrow, Thursday at 7.30pm in Killanny. Our B team play Scotstown in the Division 5A Shield Final on Monday the 15th of August at 7.30pm, the venue is yet to be confirmed. Check social media for updates. Ladies: Commiserations to our U16 division 1 team who were beaten by Magheracloone on Monday night. The game got off to a quick start with both teams registering goals early. The Aughnamullen backs frustrated the Magheracloone forwards forcing many wides. Aughnamullen registered 3 points of their own. Magheracloone found their purple patch and hit the back of the net 4 times in the first half. Aughnamullen forwards were denied chances of a score by a strong Magheracloone defence. A second Aughnamullen goal and a great save before half time ensured Aughnamullen stayed in the game. Halftime score 4:04-2:03.

In the second half, Aughnamullen ran at the Magheracloone backs forcing fouls, resulting in 2 points coming from frees. A third goal saw Aughnamullen edge back into the game. Magheracloone were forced to take their points as our tight defence ensured there were no more green flags. In a last stitch attempt we hit the back of the net again to bring it to a 4 point difference. Unfortunately time was up and the girls could do no more. Final score 4:09-4:05.

Wishing Aoibheann Traynor a speedy recovery after suffering a tough injury in the first half of the game.

Team: Ashlinn Hughes, Molly Ward, Kassie McCabe, Ella Mooney, Aoibheann Traynor, Lucia Sheridan, Alison Gilliland (0:04,2F), Katie McAdam, Amy McArdle, Rachel Cassidy, Andrea Quinn, Grainne Hand (0:01), Rachel Duffy (2:0), Anna McCaul, Ciara Boyle, Megan Boyle (2:0), Lucy Geoghegan, Emma Duffy, Emma Deery, Tara Reilly, Lucy Ward, Kayla Mooney, Elle McArdle. Management: Catriona Hamilton, Matty Gilliland, Seamus Deery and Aoife Bannigan.

Hard luck to our u16 division 3 team who were beaten by Magheracloone Bs on Tuesday in Cloghan. The girls were slow to start with Magheracloone scoring 2 goals. The girls found their feet and responded with 2 goals of their own. Along with the goals, Magheracloone scored 3 points in the first half while Aughnamullen scored 2. Half time score 3:3- 2:2.

Aughnamullen came out fighting in the second half as our defence and goalkeeper kept Magheracloone scoreless for the 30 minutes. Unfortunately our forwards shooting efforts were unrewarding with shots dropping short or wide. The girls continued to pressurise the Magheracloone backs scoring 3 points in the second half but it wasn’t enough to get them over the line. They fought to the very end and did their club proud. Final score 3:03- 2:05
