Junior League

Eire Og were the visitors to Pairc Eanna for our Junior League semi-final and made life difficult for us for most of the first half. We went in at the break only a point up and it could and should have been more had Callum Murrays shot not rebounded off the cross bar and over instead of under. However, we freshened things up at half time introducing a few subs and quickly gained control in the match – a Conor Grimes goal in the 48th minute after some inspirational scores from the Vernon brothers saw us open up a 10 point lead heading into the last quarter and it was Cillian Collins who put the gloss on the scoreline finishing to the net with 5 minutes remaining to help us to a 16 point victory. Final score 2-18 to 0-08. Frustratingly enough now we have to wait until the culmination of the Junior Championship in late Sept until we get to play in the league final against Clones.

Reserve League Final

We will play Magheracloone in the Div 1B league Final on Friday evening 29th July in Emmett Park Carrickmacross at 7.30pm. Best of luck lads.

Well done to our U-15’s who have reached the Div 3 paly-off final where we will play Aghabog on Thursday 28th July at home at 7.30pm

Our next match in the Div 2 league is at home to Donaghmoyne this Tuesday the 26th July at 7.30pm.

Our U-19’s made the long trip to Latton last Tuesday evening for their Div 3 league Final clash against Aughnamullen and although we started like a house on fire it was a combination of missed opportunities coupled with some unlucky decisions going against us that contributed to our

downfall…. not least a harsh red card early in the second half which made an uphill task even more difficult. However, the spirit in this young team shone through and despite being 6 points down with only 8 minutes to play, they rallied gamely to close to within 2 points aided by a Cillian McGahon goal but despite having opportunities from dead balls late in the game we just couldn’t find the extra couple of points to take it to extra time. Nonetheless a great campaign for these lads and I’m sure many of them will make the successful step up now to the Senior team. Final score Killanny 1-14 Aughnamullen 2-13

Cul Camps

Well done and a huge thanks to all the young coaches & volunteers to helped make this another successful Cul Camps in Killanny. Great fun was had by all! Roll-on next year!
