Emyvale G.A.A Weekly Club Notes 14-07-22

Intermediates: Emyvale played their final league game last Friday evening against Sean Mc Dermotts in Tully. We have had a very poor start to this year’s campaign losing the first five games although missing our county players and a number of injuries to key players. There had been a huge improvement in the subsequent three games picking up 5 out of a possible 6 points. This meant that we had control of our own destiny going into the Seans game. A win would see us progress to the quarter finals and even a draw would suffice if one other result went our way. The stage was set perfectly; a glorious evening and a bumper crowd and the game didn’t disappoint. It was a free flowing match that provided plenty of scores, some high standard points, a missed penalty for the home side and a lengthy delay due to an injury sustained to Emyvale player Gareth Mc Quaid. We wish Gareth a speedy and full recovery. And also good wishes to Daniel Mc Mahon who got a nasty injury also. In Seans lead by the influential Niall Kearns stayed in front for much of the game but Emyvale showed character to stay in touch with Ryan Mc Anespie heavily involved and helped by a strong supporting cast. After an end to end tussle the game ended in a draw Emyvale 1-10 and Seans 2- 7

A fair result on the night but Emyvale will rue missed chances. Due to Tyholland beating Blackhill the draw was not enough for Emyvale to progress and must now concentrate on a relegation semi final against Toome next Sunday in Tully.

U19’s: they were unlucky during the week in their semifinal at home to Scotstown when the away team won on the night . great display by the Emyvale lads and unlucky in the end.
