Seniors: Our seniors played away to Clontibret in the Senior League on Saturday evening last, losing out on a scoreline of 2-16 to 1-06. On what was a perfect evening for football, a very strong Clontibret team ran out comfortable winners in a game which got away from our lads from an early stage. Frees from Jason Duffy and Kevin Sheridan were our only scores in the first half, with the score sitting at 1-10 to 0-02 at the break. A goal and a point from Ben McCabe was the shining light of the second half, where Aughnamullen’s performance had improved. The hosts never dropped their intensity came out deserving winners. Our next game is at home to Castleblayney in the final round of the league this Friday evening at 8pm. Best of luck to the team and management. All support welcome.

Senior Championship Draw: We’ve been drawn into Group 1 of the Senior Football Championship alongside Scotstown, Clontibret, Ballybay and Donaghmoyne. Our first game is at home to Clontibret on the weekend of the 14th of August.

Reserves: Our reserve team were beaten by Magheracloone in the semi final of the league on Tuesday evening on a scoreline of 3-18 to 1-11. The lads were well in the game in the first half, however they possibly gave themselves too much to do at half time, trailing by 5 points at the break. Magheracloone scored a further 2 goals in the second half which finished the game as a contest and ran out comfortable winners. This result brings an end to the season for our Reserves. Thank you to the players and management team for their efforts all year.
