Currin Seniors

Currin V Eire Og

We travelled to Eire Og for another round of the league on Friday 17th June. After a couple of difficult games, we hoped things would be on the up for Currin but unfortunately, we had even more injuries and players missing so it was never going to be an easy battle.

We started off the game well, with both teams getting points after one another. Everyone of our players were running hard and showing well for the ball. Eire Og turned over the ball and they rallied up to field to get a point from play which left the score line Currin 0-4 Eire Og 0-7 going into half time.

Eire Og began as they had finished in the first half with another score in the early minutes of the second half. We missed some frees going into the last quarter of the game and saw us trail by 5 points. Fergal saved a goal and not long after, we scored our own goal after great teamwork by the boys. Eire Og finished the game with some fantastic long-range points and were deserved winners on the night. With our limited pool of players, they never gave up and fought to the end as they always do. Final score Currin 1-06 Eire Og 0-16.

Currin V Killeevan

On Sunday last, we made the short journey to Killeevan, where despite a number of players missing, we came away with a well-deserved win. All credit to the lads who fought hard for their first win this year and were the superior team across the field.

We opened the scoring with a fine point from Enda McCaffrey. We pushed on with points from Paddy McDermott, Colm McCaffrey and Tiarnan Kearns and were leading 0-4 to 0-8. Killevan got another point before Stephen Smyth added a point from play. We were awarded a penalty after Enda McCaffrey was pulled down, which Tiarnan converted leaving the half time score 0-5 to 1-9.

We opened the scoring in the second half with a point from Enda. Colm McCaffrey was unlucky not to score a goal after some good play. Jack McQuaid converted two frees with Killeevan also adding three points before they got a goal leaving just four points in it. We missed a couple of chances before we added two more points from Paddy McDermott and Stephen Smyth leaving the score 1-8 to1-14. Killevan finished out the game adding two further points to leave final score at 1-10 to 1-14.
