Seniors: Our senior team played away to Latton on Friday evening last, where they drew on a scoreline of 0-12 to 1-09. In what was a closely fought affair throughout, Aughnamullen got off to a quick start with points from Kieran Duffy and Darren Geoghegan giving us the early advantage. The hosts grabbed a stranglehold of the game for the remainder of the first half, going in ahead at half time by 0-07 to 0-05. A spirited second half performance followed from the boys in blue, with the two point deficit being overturned and, in the final minutes of the game, a three point gap being opened up by Aughnamullen through a free from Micheál Bannigan. Some inspirational defensive performances were on display, and with the aid of an exhibition of fielding from Joel Wilson, Aughnamullen were good value for their lead. Deep into injury time, when the game looked to be up, Latton found the net with the final kick of the game to salvage a point. Not to come away with a win was disappointing, however once again plenty of positives can be taken from the performance and the boys will be looking to have a quick turnaround against Ballybay tonight in the league at 8pm in Aughnamullen. Best of luck to the team and management. All support welcome.
