Our 2021 club AGM was held last Friday night and while there was certainly an air of disappointment around as a result of our relegation to Junior for 2022, chairman Declan Gartlan was upbeat in his review of the year gone and for the year ahead. Our secretary James opened the meeting with his report followed by Treasurer Majella with her bit on the finances. All present also heard from Martin Burns on the successes of our underage teams, in particular our U-13’s and from ladies chairman Peter Finnegan on our U-16 girls who took silverware back to the parish for the first time ever in that grade. The only change to elected officers was outgoing Secretary James Duffy being replaced by Ronan Duffy. Hugh appreciation must go to James who did a stellar job in his short spell as Secretary and thankfully he has agreed to stay on as a committee member. We wish Ronan all the best in his new role.
In an effort to raise awareness of SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome) we have gotten on board with AMS (Advanced Medical Services) who will hold a ‘Cardiac Screening’ day in our Community Centre on Saturday 29th January. Approx. 2 young people die per week in Ireland from SADS so early detection of any issues is vital. The fee is €69.50 per person but the procedure is FREE with LAYA Health Insurance. To book, simply log on to www.ameds.ie – click on ‘online booking’ and enter clinic code, KILLANNY. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. For further details Lo-call 0818 333 120
