Club of the Year
A great honour for the club to be named Monaghan Club of the Year at Convention last Thursday evening. This is the fifth such honour for the club with previous awards in 1981, 1991, 1997 and 2002 and reflects not only the work that has gone on over the past decade developing and upgrading our facilities but the work that goes on daily to maintain them to the highest standard. In announcing the award County Chairman Declan Flanagan referenced not only the standard of facilities at O’Neill Park but the manner in which they are presented. Kudos to the Development Committee that has driven all this development and especially to pitch managers Ciaran McMahon and Colm Gormley who maintain them to the highest standard. Other awards for the club announced on Thursday included the Youth Achievement Award in Hurling, Junior Hurling Referee, Paul Boylan; Senior Hurling Referee Noel Mullaney with two former greats Mick O’Dowd and Kevin Carragher to be inducted into the Monaghan Hall of Fame while for the Camogie club Elanna Fitzpatrick was named Camogie Player of the Year. Well done to all award winners.
