Annual General Meeting: Our club AGM was held on Friday the 26th of November in the Social Centre. The meeting was well attended, with social distancing precautions taken by those in attendance. The Secretary’s report was read out by Ann Blanche, which outlined all club affairs of 2021. This was followed by the financial report by treasurer Debbie McArdle, which gave a comprehensive and in-depth review of the club’s accounts. A juvenile report was read out by Youth Officer Finbarr Crowe, who gave a detailed account of each of our juvenile teams’ seasons.
The chairman’s address: Paddy Markey thanked all those who helped throughout the year. He started his report by thanking our Senior management led by Gabriel Bannigan and all the players on their remarkable achievement in progressing from Junior Football to an Intermediate Championship final in just 2 years. He thanked John, Bernie, and Keith Sheridan our main sponsors for all their much-appreciated support. He congratulated all our juvenile players on their performances during the year and thanked all those involved from Under 6 up. He congratulated all the successful teams of 2021, with our Under 15s winning the Division 3 league and our Under 13s winning an historic Division 1 double – a first for the club. He thanked Finbarr for taking on the juvenile officer role and his commitment to this role all year. He thanked all the underage coaches, first aiders, covid supervisors and those who sponsored food
and gear for our juveniles. He thanked all those who assisted the club in anyway in particular to John & Bernie Sheridan our club sponsors and also to Rosemary & Ian Johnston who sponsored the club throughout the year. Paddy expressed his appreciation to all the lotto sellers (including those who have retired) for driving the roads every week collecting lotto’s which funds the day to day running of our club. He thanked everyone for their support in our last fund raiser “Win a Garden Home” in which we cleared €30K. Paddy talked about our new “Astro Pitch” which is now up and running. He said this a marvelous addition to our facilities and with the proper care would be here for use by all for years to come. He thanked the contractors Damian Comiskey and Chris Keenan for all their work. He commended our development committee led by Seamus Conlon in securing CLAR funding to help in tarmacking the rest of the carpark. In relation to the bar, he welcomed Tina Duffy as manager and welcomed back Ollie Morrissey as chef. He thanked all the bar staff for their work all year. He wished Mary Duffy well and hopefully see her back soon. Paddy congratulated all those involved in running the summer camp in difficult circumstances. This was a great success with almost 200 children attending. He also thanked his Club officers ie. Secretary Ann, Treasurer Debbie and Pro Brian Mc Ardle and congratulated Bernie McBrien on her nomination as the Clubs Volunteer of the year an award well deserved. He thanked Eimear McGeough who stepped away from the committee for her help in 2021 and Brian McArdle who stepped down as Pro after years of great service in the role. He thanked Killian McGeough for coming on board as the new Pro. He sympathised with all those who suffered bereavement during the year. He congratulated all those who married, got engaged or became parents during the year.

Aughnamullen Vintage Club: Aughnamullen Vintage Club membership is now due for renewal. New members are very welcome to join also. Contact Pamela Sheridan email@example.com for application form. Membership of a vintage club is required to obtain insurance for vintage vehicles. All membership to be paid on or before Friday 10th December 2021.
Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to his brother Tommy and Kathleen Duffy Tusker and his sister Annie Mc Caul Coas and extended Duffy & Mc Caul families on the death of Owen Duffy Reaghstown. Owen or Owenie Duffy as he was commonly known as passed away on Sunday last. Owenie was a mainstay of the Aughnamullen team in the successful team of the 1960’s alongside his brother Tommy where they won the Dr Ward Cup in 1964 & 1965 and the Junior Championships in 1957 & 1967. Owenie played in the defence on these teams. In 2005 Owenie alongside his brother Tommy were inducted into the club hall of fame. May God have mercy on his soul.
