Intermediate Championship

Well it certainly wasn’t a classic but we got the win we needed in Eire Og last Saturday afternoon to keep our survival hopes alive. We were probably just the better team in the first half, but it was a half of football that both sides would have been disappointed with as both were guilty of some very poor shooting and wides were certainly a plenty – nevertheless we went in at the break 0-05 to 0-02 up. Eire Og came out the second half and in fairness threw everything at us but again their shooting let them down and certainly a more clinical team on the day would surely have beaten us as we did not have our best performance either. We just always seemed to do enough to keep the score board ticking over and keep that 2/3 points ahead all the time and it was only in the last 5 or 6 minutes when the home side ran out of puff that we put the game to bed and, in the end, ran out 0-12 to 0-07 winners. Our final match in the relegation group is a ‘winner survives’ game against Cremartin on Sat 13th Nov.

Well done to our U-13’s team who were crowned Div 2 Cup Champions last weekend with victory over Monaghan Harps in Drumhowan on a scoreline of 3-18 to 1-06. This was just rewards for a team who, if my memory serves me correctly, went through their entire 2021 league and championship campaign suffering only 1 defeat and narrowly missed out on winning the double, so well done lads and to all involved!!
