Aughnamullen GAA Club Notes

U13: Pride of place of this week goes to our successful Double winning Division 1 Champions who achieved sucess on Saturday last when accounting for Donaghmoyne by 2-14 to 0-5. This was a comprehensive win from start to finish. In the first half Aughnamullen led by 9 at the break 1-9 to 0-3 with some great scores from our midfielders and forwards . In the second half Aughnamullen were still dominant with further points and a further goal and great defending by our Goalkeeper and defenders to hold Donaghmoyne to just 2 points and at the end to held out for a great victory.
This team were magnificent throughout the year remaining unbeaten throughout. Credit is given to the team and management of Philip Lambe, Gerard Mc Geough, Paul Mulligan, Brian Mc Ardle, Martin Woods & Tom Garrivan. To the first Aid person Joanne Phillips and Covid Officer Caroline Geoghegan who made sure all players and coaches signed in to the Return to Play.
Thanks, is also extended to Gary Mulligan and Michael Bannigan who in the last few weeks gave extra training and advice to our Goalkeepers and forwards respectively.

Seniors: The Senior team played Emyvale in the semifinal of the championship last Sunday and by god what a game this was. The game had everything and had everyone on their toes where the sides were level on a number of occasions and in the end, it probably felt a draw was a fair result.
In the first half Emyvale were off the mark first but Aughnamullen came back and at the first water break the sides were level at 0-4 points each. In the second quarter scores were scored equally and at half time it was 0-6 point a piece.
In the second half Aughnamullen went into a 4-point lead but credit to Emyvale they came back again and entering the final quarter Aughnamullen held a 2-point led 0-11 to 0-9. In the final quarter however Emyvale returned to parity entering injury time when a point by Aughnamullen left them 1 up but back came Emyvale to force extra time 0-14 to 0-14.
In extra time Emyvale went into the lead courtesy of a long range free and with time almost up Aughnamullen gathered possession in their own half back line and worked the ball patiently through a number of phases to eventually get a shot on goal to equalise to the relief of all concerned to set up a replay which is this Saturday night in Inniskeen at 7pm. On behalf of the club best wishes is extended to team and management
