EMYVALE G.A.A CLUB NOTES
IFL Semi-Final: Our Senior team made the away trip to Donaghmoyne on Sunday afternoon for our meeting with the locals in the Intermediate league Semi-Final. After hitting the first score from Stephen Askin, we found ourselves 3 points down after the Homeside hit 1:01, only for a David Mc Allister goal to even the game up at 1:01 a piece at the water break. Emyvale replied with a brace of points after the water break to go two points up only for the Fontenoyes to score four points without reply. David Mc Allister once again scored two fine points from play to level the score at 1:05 each at the halftime break. With space and time a luxury that wasn’t to be afforded both teams had some wides and missed scores. David Garland continued to tick the scoreboard over for Donaghmoyne with point before Niall Mc Kenna scored a well taken goal with a powerful shot from the edge of the square, to send Emyvale into the lead on 2:05-1:06. However, the home team took a bit more of a grip on the game to score 1:05 on the trot. This Emyvale team were not for letting go and replied with a well dispatched penalty by substitute Ben Ryan. Donaghamoyne pushed over another point before Emyvale scored two more points through Stephen Askin and Ryan Mc Anespie to leave a two-point gap that unfortunately we could not assail. Finishing on a score-line of Donaghmoyne 2:12-3:07 Emyvale.
