Seniors: Our Championship Dream was ended on Sunday last when we succumbed to Donaghmoyne in the Championship Final losing by 3 points on a score line of 2-11 to 2-8. Although beaten the boys never gave up and credit to them for this. It shows how far this panel of players have come in such a short period of time and all at Aughnamullen are very proud of them and hope in the future more success will be achieved.
Anyway, on to the game Donaghmoyne scored the first points courtesy of the game but back came Aughnamullen with ace marksman Colin Clerkin scoring 1-2 without reply and Aughnamullen led at the first water break 1-2 to 0-2. In the second quarter Donaghmoyne increased the tempo with a number of scores but Aughnamullen scored a couple of their own through the boot of Michael Bannigan and at half time it was all tied up at 1-4 to 0-7.
In the 3rd Quarter Donaghmoyne went into the lead however a great run by Michael Bannigan was finished to the back of the Donaghmoyne net by Joel Wilson after 10 minutes however a 2-goal burst by Donaghmoyne in the space of 5 minutes proving monumental and at the 2nd Water break led by 4 points 2-9 to 2-5.
In the final quarter Aughnamullen tried hard to reduce the deficit but unfortunately couldn’t get the desired effect and donaghmoyne ran out winners.
