Doohamlet G.F.C.  Results:  Our senior team booked themselves a spot in the semi-final of the Intermediate Championship when they beat their neighbours Cremartin in what was a highly charged game on a glorious Autumn Saturday afternoon. This was the fifth round of the championship and tension was high between both teams, however Doohamlet held their nerve and came out on top.  Doohamlet opened up the scoring with a point from Barry Mc Bennett followed closely with a point from full forward Colin Walshe.  However, a goal and a point from Cremartin puts them slightly ahead at the first water break with the score Doohamlet 0-2 Cremartin1-1.  Doohamlet faced a strong sun in the first half and scoring was kept to two points in this quarter with Captain Barry Mc Ginn and Barry Mc Bennett putting them over the bar, leaving the halftime score Doohamlet 0-4 Cremartin 1-4.  In the opening minute of the second half Barry Mc Ginn sets the pace for Doohamlet and places the ball over the bar and adds a second score minutes later, however a sending off for Doohamlet and a penalty converted on the other side of the pitch puts six points between the teams.   With a man down Doohamlet steps up their game.  Barry Mc Bennett scores two great points at a vital time, just before the final water break leaving the score at the second water break Doohamlet 0-8 Cremartin 2-6. Ciaran Mc Manus replaces Oisin O Neill and Kevin Mc Ardle replaces Sean Markey. In the final quarter Doohamlet took control of the game with Barry Mc Bennett converting a free and Damien Ward who intercepted a pass at our back line and made a wonderful run to the full forward line to receive the ball and place it in the back of the Cremartin net.  This was a vital score for Doohamlet leaving the game a draw with only a few minutes to go.  Doohamlet are awarded a free and Barry Mc Bennett confidently steps up to the mark and places the ball over the bar to put Doohamlet ahead, minutes later Doohamlet are awarded another free and yet again Barry Mc Bennett takes his free and seals the game for Doohamlet with a two-point lead. The final score Doohamlet 1-11 Cremartin 2-6.  A great comeback and win for the team. Congratulations to all the team and manager Shane Mc Manus and background team on reaching the semi-final of the championship which will take place on the weekend of the 31st of October.
