Under 17: The u17 panel played Aghabog in the preliminary round of the U17 Championship on Saturday last and came away with a hard-earned victory on a score line of 4-12 to 2-11. The final score was flattering to the home side as Aghabog battled hard throughout and only a couple of late goals proving the difference in Aughnamullen’s Favour. In the first half Aghabog got on the scoreboard first however this was cancelled out by an Aughnamullen goal however back came Aghabog to score 2 quick fire goals to lead by 4 at the first water break. In the second quarter Aughnamullen came back with another goal and scores were then traded equally and at half time Aghabog led by 1 point 2-6 to 2-5 at the break. Onto to the second half the sides were even and going into the last quarter Aughnamullen held a slight lead of 2 points and it wasn’t until the final few minutes with 2 quick goals proving decisive and Aughnamullen recorded a good victory. However credit goes to the home side who showed great battling qualities as they overcame the challenge put in front of them and its onwards and upwards for this team. Next up is a Quarter Final against Rock Sarsfield’s next Monday night the 4th of October at 7.30pm in Emyvale. NB> This game will be played under lights.
