We were delighted that our Club Volunteer was presented with his award for 2020 by County Board Secretary this week. Paul Quinn has always being a very strong supporter of Latton O’Rahilly and became actively involved the in the club in the mid 2000’s. From 2005 -2009 Paul was the leading force in Club Fundraising both as a committee member and later as Club treasurer organising Club Draws,Gala Balls etc in order to facilitate the extension and renovation of Latton GAA Centre which included a refurbished Community Cente,New Social Centre,New State of the art Dressing Rooms,Referees Room,Medical Room,Gymnasium and Newly Refurbished Kitchens.2011,saw PQE become Club Sponsor and this has continued to be so to the present day. As newly elected Club Chairman in 2014 Paul spearheaded the plan for Vision 2020 with projects such as a third full size playing field ,a fully light walking /running track, a multi use games area ,all of which are now completed . As Paul would be the first to say, it was all of the club and community working together achieved the project completion, that may be true, however it was Pauls persistence and dedication that delivered thousands of hours of voluntary work to enable the projects to be completed. His attention to detail with the dotting of the i’s and crossing the t’s has enabled the Club to avail of grant monies from many sources to enable the funding of the projects.Paul was also an integral part of the committee that worked with the pride of Place awards in 2017 culminating in Latton being crowned overall National Winners at the annual awards ceremonies. We also know for Paul that his Vision for Latton is only in its infancy, that he has many more ambitious projects at the O’Rahilly complex in Latton. For his commitment to the continued improvement of our Club we the members of Latton GAA Club and Community , were delighted to nominate Paul Quinn as our nominee for the Volunteer Recognition & Appreciation Scheme 2020.
