Football is Back! We got the ball rolling at the weekend with a variety of club matches. First out were Emmets Reserve team who played Blackhill a challenge game at Blackhill on Friday evening. On a night of heavy rain it spoilt the conditions and the game to a certain extent but it didn’t spoil the enjoyment of being back on a pitch and playing football again. Over twenty players got a run-out and there were some good individual performances over the hour. Next team out was the under-seventeen team in Platinum Tanks Park and their opponents came from Cooley Co Louth. In Louth football the grades are different ages so their team was a year older than the Emmets; however the lads played competitively throughout and again all the players got some play-time: Back to Emmet Park where the visitors on Sunday were Dungannon County Tyrone and over four quarters of football we were treated to plenty of good movement and some fine scoring. The visitors looked sharp and The Emmets will look back on the final quarter which was the pick of their performance with some excellent passages of play which entertained the fairly large crowd that attended!.
300 Club Draw! Having lost our planned Golf Classic fund raiser the Emmet Club committee has decided to run a 300 Club Draw in a once-off fundraiser to tide us over the remainder of the year. As the title suggests it is open to three hundred members all of whom have the opportunity to enter twelve monthly draws with €500 the top prize each month. The first draw is due the first week of October by which time we hope the Emmet supporters and friends will help the club to reach the required target. All our adult club players have tickets to sell and hopefully everyone will get behind them and support them in this venture. The committee members also have a number of tickets to sell and seek your encouragement during these challenging times. With an additional 5x €100s also drawn on the night it brings the total to seventy-two chances to win in a prize fund of €12,000. The cost per ticket is €100 each. We appeal to anyone who can afford to buy or share in a ticket to do so, or let us know by contacting one of our players or committee members. It is our objective to maintain investing in our Emmet players, young and adult, and to continue improving our club facilities!
