Latton is the venue for our fourth and last game in the group on weekend 23rd August: All been well we can look forward to a few more games after that!

Club Lotto! There was no winning combination at the Club Lotto on Monday night when the jackpot was €1,300. The numbers drawn were 02, 10, 26 and 27: Pauric Carroll won the €50 voucher; Declan McKenna and the McCooey kids got the €20 vouchers while Sandra Woods got the €10. Download the Clubforce App or visit the Emmets website to do the Lotto on-line. Envelopes are also sold in O’Rourke’s, Birdy’s, Walsh’s and Carrick Butchers: Next week €1,400

Ready for Action! The club have being busy around Emmet Park bringing a new brightness and colour to the entrance of the famous grounds! First man on site was Gordon Finnegan who powered-hosed the walls which got us ready for the next phase. After more skimming came the actual painting of the walls and thanks to Ken O’Reilly and his roller for a job well done! For the clean-up of the mess; we want to thank Padraig McNally who done a wonderful job around the gates and indeed all along the footpath and the wall of Emmet Park. Ella arrived with brushes of a different kind and probably had the trickiest task of anyone; which was to recreate the club crest on the rickety wall and the result was perfect. With the new turnstiles already in place the new appearance will enhance the facilities as we welcome back Championship Football to Emmet Park. The old paint room is now fully fitted for a new shop which will add an asset to our future income on big days. Inside the grounds of Emmet Park and Platinum Tanks Park Pauric Keenan was working hard on the presentation of both pitches. Firstly by re-sodding the goal areas and other bad spots while the pitches were closed. The result has seen a significent change and improvement in the playing surface. Next came the divot-filling and two Sunday mornings saw a number of volunteers on their knees and a special thank-you to them. Finally during last week the pitches were veri-drained and rolled; followed with an overlay of fertiliser. Meanwhile Tony Gartlan has quietly been busy mowing and trimming Emmet Park and the surrounds with proficiency as he has done so voluntary for the last number of years.

300 Club Draw! Having lost our Golf Classic the Emmet Club committee have decided to run a 300 Club Draw in a once-off fundraiser to tide us over the remainder of the year. As the title suggests it is open to three hundred members all of whom have the opportunity to enter twelve monthly draws with €500 the top prize each month. The first draw is due the first week of October by which time we hope the Emmet supporters and friends will help the club to reach the required target. All our adult club players have tickets to sell and hopefully everyone will get behind them and support them in this venture. The committee members also have a number of tickets to sell and seek your encouragement during these challenging times. There are an additional 5x €100 also drawn on the night bring the total to seventy two chances to win in a prize fund of €12,000. The cost per ticket is €100 each. Draws will be live on Emmets Facebook.

Welcome Return! Over the past few months the Covid 19 has impacted hugely on our lives and communities especially for our older members who asked to stay at home which was a lonely and isolating experience! As we tentatively take the first steps back to some normality, be it with caution, it has given a new lift to the club and supporters as we anticipate a new beginning of activity. The intended schedule will hopefully see the senior club championship commence in early August which is really something to look forward to! We will keep you informed as more information is forthcoming in the near future. However; there will be a lot of extra work and pre-planning to be done before we return to a routine that undoubtedly will see different and unfamiliar procedures in place for the foreseeable future.
