C.L.G. SEAN MAC DIARMADA
Sunrise to Sunrise 24 Hour run
This charity fundraiser for the local frontline healthcare workers was nothing short of a ‘run away success’. All puns aside this turned into a military style operation which ran from 5.30am on Saturday the 16th to 5.30am on Sunday the 17th without a fault. Ryan Connolly and his band of helpers had carefully timetabled players from the Mens and Ladies senior teams to run for a minimum of 5km. In return for their efforts , a go fund me page was set up for voluntary donations from the general public. With over sixty runners taking part , it wasn’t long before the euros started rattling in. We had young and old taking part and in fact one couple had their time slot allocated so they could play their part in Australia. There was a real sense of club and community pulling together for a worthy cause. As dawn approached on Sunday morning the coffers began to swell and by Sunday afternoon the fund had topped six thousand euros. It was a terrific achievement for all this who organised, took part and donated. As a small thanks to all the people that contributed, there will be an open draw for all those people and the winners will receive club gear. Winners will be announced during the week. It was an enlightening experience for all who took part or watched from the sidelines, as a group of ordinary people came together to show their the support and solidarity to those who have placed themselves on the frontline during this unsavory pandemic. The club would just like to compliment and congratulate all those involved.
Another week of skill challenges for our younger players from their coaches. Well done to those who are keeping up the practice. We would encourage all parents to try to keep the children active and involved in way possible.
Keep an eye out for the launch on our new club app. Its on the way
