Corduff Gaels Club Notes

Breaking News – Club Lotto Is Making A Comeback:
All GAA activities were suspended on 12th March following a directive from Croke Park including Corduff Gaels Lotto but the good news is that it is set to make a return in the coming weeks. Most  transactions at the moment are online so when the lotto returns it will also be online making it easy for members and the general public to purchase Lotto tickets from the comfort of their own homes whether that be in Ireland or further afield. The online Lotto will be available 24/7 making it easier for people to purchase tickets. The Corduff Gaels Committee is currently in the process of  setting up the online Lotto facility . As soon as more information becomes available it will be in the club notes, posted on social media platforms and members will be informed.
It’s Good To Talk Initiative:
As we all know Covid-19 has impacted hugely on our communities, especially on the older members who are being asked to stay at home. This is a lonely and isolating experience for many particularly those who live alone.
Many people in the area have received calls from Monaghan GAA players.
These calls have brightened up people’s days during these challenging times and Corduff Gaels would like to extend a massive thank you to all the players who took the time to call people in the Corduff / Raferagh area.
Covid-19 Pandemic:
From Tuesday 5th May of this week  the Covis-19 restrictions were relaxed somewhat allowing people to exercise within a 5km radius of their homes plus permitting the elderly  to go outside for exercise once per day.
While these measures are very welcome we must not let complacency set in but continue to do as good a job as we can and drive the infection as low as possible before the next crucial date May 18th. We need to stay at home leaving only to shop for essential food and goods, attend medical appointments , collect medicine, for care of children , the elderly or other vulnerable people, exercise outdoors within the 5km distance while practising physical distancing or to travel to work if you’re an essential worker.
So, as before we advise all members to adhere to the guidelines, keep safe and look forward to brighter days when we can move freely once again as the restrictions continue to be relaxed after 18th May.
Free Meals:
During the current Covid-19 crisis, a large Food manufacturer in Carrickmacross Kerry Foods, in conjunction with Monaghan GAA is offering to supply free frozen ready meals to the people of the county who may be in need of assistance.
To register your interest please contact Corduff Gaels Chairperson Peter 0876139319 or Secretary Majella 0871216055 as soon as possible.
Impact On GAA And LGFA Activity:
All GAA and LFGA activity at club and inter-county level continues to be suspended until we receive the green light to resume activity. Corduff Gaels / Ladies would like to remind the public that ALL GAA facilities in Corduff, including both pitches and the walking track will remain closed for the unforeseeable future and we ask people to respect this directive hard and all as it is.
The lack of GAA/LGFA activity has left a void in all our lives as the training / games / Lotto gave structure to our lives . Therefore it is important to maintain a healthy body and healthy mind. Physical exercise is still permitted as long as the physical distancing is adhered to.
