Corduff Gaels Club Notes
Happy Easter to all members of the Corduff/Raferagh Community and beyond.
Despite the uncertain times we are living in it is Holy Week and all the Ceremonies will be held in St Joseph’s Carrickmacross without a congregation. Through the webcam and the Parish Radio all ceremonies can be accessed in your home on the following link www.carrickmacrossparish.ie and on the radio on 92.1 FM.
Holy Thursday Mass Of The Lord’s Supper will be streamed at 7:30pm
Good Friday Celebration of The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ is at 3pm with The Stations Of The Cross also live streamed at 7:30pm
Holy Saturday Easter Vigil Of The Resurrection of the Lord will be at 9pm
Easter Sunday Mass Of The Lord’s Ressurection is at 12 noon.
And the good news for the younger members of the community is that the Easter Bunny has been given permission to travel all around the country as the 2km restriction doesn’t apply to him!
The new reality as we know it is set to continue as the almost total lockdown of Irish society looks set to extend beyond Easter Sunday. An announcement is expected towards the end of the week. These measures will continue to present challenges for every corner of society as together, as a nation the aim is to slow the virus in its tracks and flatten the curve.
The message remains the same, it’s not a solo run – we’re in this together.
Covid-19 will only be beaten if we all take it seriously and all do the right thing by adhering to the guidelines for the required period of time.
A lockdown like this can cause stress and difficulty for some members of the community especially the elderly and those who are requested to cocoon.
But, never fear, help is near . We’re one community and we’re all in this together so Corduff Gaels, Corduff Ladies , Corduff Juveniles and Carduff/Raferagh Community Association have volunteers who are available to take your call and assist in whatever way possible whether it be shopping , prescriptions, fuel etc
The main contacts are listed here but other people have also volunteered and to all of them we, as a community extend our sincere gratitude:
Peter McGarrell 087 6136319
Dermot Hand 086 8224024
Lorcan Hand 086 2719850
John Finlass 087 3349853.
A full list of contacts was circulated last week. A massive thank you to the An Post staff in the Carrickmacross , Shercock and Shantonagh postal areas who so willingly distributed the leaflets to those living alone or venerable in our area. Remember, if in need check the contacts on the list and make a call.
We also advise all members to continue to adhere to the HSE guidelines of hand-washing , cough etiquette and physical distancing. Keep safe and we can all look forward to brighter days when we can move freely once again.
We also extend a massive thanks to all healthcare staff working to protect us. Also thank you to all those working in shops , chemists etc ensuring essential supplies are available to one and all, we truly appreciate you all.
Impact On GAA And LGFA Activity:
Corduff Gaels continue to comply with the recent directive and guidelines issued by Official GAA, Croke Park. Club facilities are now locked with signs up advising that absolutely nobody should be on club grounds until we receive the green light to do so. There is no insurance cover while club activities are suspended.
The lack of GAA/LGFA activity has left a void in all our lives . Therefore it is important to maintain a healthy body and healthy mind. The weather looks good for the coming days so there should be plenty of opportunities to get physical exercise within the 2km zone as long as the physical distancing is adhered to . By staying apart we can fight this together. #itsinourhands
