Corduff Gaels Club Notes
The new reality as we know it changed once again last Friday 27th March as the Covid-19 pandemic demanded that the Government had to take more unprecedented measures in response to the unprecedented health emergency.
The Taoiseach announced an almost total two-week lockdown of Irish society as he urged people to stay at home in all but a few circumstances for 2 weeks. These measures have presented new challenges for every corner of society as together, as a nation the aim is to slow the virus in its tracks and flatten the curve.
The message remains the same, it’s not a solo run – we’re in this together.
Covid-19 will only be beaten if we all take it seriously and all do the right thing by adhering to the guidelines of this lockdown for 2 weeks.
A lockdown like this can cause stress and difficulty for some members of the community especially the elderly and those who are requested to cocoon.
But, never fear, help is near . We’re all one community and we’re all in this together so Corduff Gaels, Corduff Ladies , Corduff Juveniles and Corduff Raferagh Community Association have volunteers who are available to take your call and assist in whatever way possible whether it be shopping , prescriptions, fuel etc
The main contacts are listed here but other people have also volunteered and to all of them we, as a community extend our sincere gratitude:
Peter McGarrell 087 6136319
Dermot Hand 086 8224024
Lorcan Hand 086 2719850
John Finlass 087 3349853.
A full list of contacts will be circulated during the week.
We also advise all members to continue to adhere to the guidelines of hand-washing , cough etiquette and physical distancing. Keep safe and we can all look forward to brighter days when we can move freely once again.
We also extend a massive thanks to all healthcare staff working to protect us. Also thank you to all those working in shops , chemists etc ensuring essential supplies are available to one and all.
Impact On GAA And LGFA Activity:
The Official GAA in Croke Park issued another directive last week stating that GAA clubs close their facilities completely including running tracks. Corduff Gaels are compling with those guidelines and club facilities are now locked with signs up advising that absolutely nobody should be on club grounds until we receive the green light to do so. There is no insurance cover while club activities are suspended.
The lack of GAA/LGFA activity has left a void in all our lives as the training / games / Lotto gave structure to our lives . Therefore it is important to maintain a healthy body and healthy mind. Physical exercise is still permitted within 2km of your house as long as the physical distancing is adhered to . By staying apart we can fight this together.
Yours in Sport,
Corduff Gaels P.R.O.
