Universal Graphics JFC Final:
Blackhill 3-8 Drumhowan 2-8 Sunday October 6th in Aughnamullen.
Heartiest congratulations to our players, manager Aidan McCabe, selector Éamon Byrne, backroom team Anthony McCann, Aidan Little and Tom Griffin on bringing the Packie Boylan Cup back to Blackhill for the second time in three years and sixth time in our history. The game hung in the balance for fully 67 minutes with both teams playing with courage and conviction in a very sporting contest. Our respect for the great club that are Drumhowan Geraldines has only increased after last Sunday. Blackhill’s ability to get scores from play at crucial times in the game proved decisive on the day. Michael Geehan was a worthy recipient of the man of the match award and team captain Hugh Byrne accepted the Packie Boylan Cup on behalf of the club from Michael McMahon Cathaoirlach C.C.M. and Barry Murray (Universal Graphics). Sincere thanks to Aughnamullen GAA Club for hosting the game and presenting the pitch so well after all the rain that fell, C.C.M. and the match officials for their work. Thanks also to Madeline Forde who catered in our social centre and to the fantastic Brendan McCourt and his band who entertained into the small hours both adding greatly to the occasion. Thank you to everyone in the community who came and supported the team, provided sponsorship or who helped out in anyway. The sight of so many children at the game was a sight to behold. Blackhill will now play Fermanagh winners St.Mary’s Maguiresbridge in the 1st round of the Ulster Junior Football Championship.
