Castleblayney Hurling Club Notes 12th Sept 2019

U7/U9 the last training session for this group took place on Wednesday 11th Sept from 6 – 7pm. The new season training will commence indoors on Tuesdays from 6-7pm in Castleblayney College gym starting Feb 26th 2020.

The U8½ and U10½ have a blitz in Omagh on Saturday 14th Sept.

The U13 team won the League last week with a match in Cloghan against Carrickmacross. This was the second meeting of the two teams with Carrickmacross victorious in their previous encounter earlier in the summer. A committed effort from the midfield saw the boys comfortably attain the trophy, accepted by Captains Conor Burns & Brion Sherry. The team await the victors of the semi final between Latton and Carrickmacross in the forthcoming final of the Championship.

U17 Hurling Championship: Congratulations to the u17 team who were victorious in the Championship on Sunday morning in Cloghan. This group of players have been training all year for the match as the league did not come to fruition. Their opponents, Carrickmacross, were within 2 points at half time on a scoreline of 1.5 to 6 points. The second half saw ‘Blayney move it up a notch, making the most of all scoring opportunities presented. Despite fluctuations on the scoreline among all there, the final moments of the game saw the teams level, with a final few scores culminating in the Castleblayney side winning by 3. With several u15 players on the team, it was great to see the commitment and skill level in the panel. The final scoreline was 2.15 to 3.09 and the Raferagh Cup was presented by Aidan Morgan to the Captains, Caleb McArdle & Cillian Hanratty.
