Senior Team

Well it certainly has been a busy couple of weeks for the senior team both on and off the field. As mentioned in last week’s notes, following our dramatic penalty shootout win over Aghabog in the championship, an issue was raised after the game was completed in regards to the spot kicks. Since then the matter has been brought before the CCC of Monaghan County board. As we were going to print,, it was confirmed that following a meeting of the CCC they were proposing a replay between Aghabog and ourselves. The club committee along with the team and managment are currently considering this proposal. On the field a valuable league point was picked up in an exciting draw against Eire Og on Sunday afternoon, well done to the team and management who have not allowed what is happening in the back ground effect their on field performance. Next up in the league is a trip away to Toome this Saturday evening at 6pm.

The Top 4 Lotto Jackpot stands at €2700 after there was no winner from Monday nights draw. The numbers drawn were 04, 09, 10, 11. Lucky dip winners were Finbar Mc Dermott Rockcorry, Gerry Monaghan Rockcorry, Martin Gallagher Aghabog, Noreen Calvert Rockcorry, James Fox Rockcorry, Mark Daly Rockcorry, Veronica & Lena Rockcorry, Michael Carroll Rockcorry. Next draw in FITZPATRICKS Rockcorry. Thanks for the continued support of the club lotto and be sure to get your numbers in and don’t forget a direct debit option is available, just contact any member of the committee.

Well done to the U13’s who recorded a win over Doohamlet in the Division 4 championship and are now busy preparing for a semi final outing with the opposition to be confirmed. Drumhowan, Sean Mc Dermotts and Killeevan are also in the last 4.

The U9’s hosted a Blitz on Saturday morning past with Currin, Drumhowan and Blackhill along ourselves in attendance. Well done to all the players and their coaches for providing some wonderful entertainment. The U9’s and U7’s have wrapped up their training and again well done to all the coaches and parents who helped out.

The U11’s face Monaghan Harps this evening (Thursday) in the Spring league final at 7pm at Paric Mhuire. Best of luck to all involved and if free why not call down to the pitch to see the future stars in action.

The U15’s are continuing their training as they wait for details on their next fixture in the championship

The U17’s are in action in the championship with their next outing on Tuesday next the 3rd of September when they face St Tiarnach Sarsfields in Clones at 7:30pm.

New Arrivals

The club extends heartiest congratulations to Cathal and Amy Sheridan on the arrival of their baby boy C.J, while there was also baby news for Mark and Cait Daly with the arrival of baby Darragh. Best wishes to both families and we are already looking forward to seeing the club jerseys on both.

All Ireland Final Ticket Draw

If you are interested in being entered into a draw to purchase one All-Ireland Football Ticket please contact club secretary Martina McKeown on or before Friday 30th August at 8pm. Draw will take place at 8pm sharp. Remember, you must be a paid up club member to enter the draw and YOU must use the ticket…it is not your ticket to pass on!

Lord Mayor Campaigns

It has been a busy few weeks on the Lord Mayor Campaign front. Well done to candidate Stephen Duffy who hosted a great week of Fun Bowls in St Mary’s Hall with competitors travelling from near and far and indeed quite a number took up the game for the very first time. One would imagine the local bowls club is going to gain a number of new members. A number of other events to look forward to is a Texas Hold’em Poker classic and a Honda Bike run. Details of those will be released shortly. A reminder also that Ambrose the Calf is thriving and tickets for the draw to win him are still available from Selena Lynch.

Back to School

Best wishes to those have returned back to school this week and in particular those who are perhaps moving on to a new school or beginning for the first time. It is always a nervous and exciting time for all involved. A special word to the teachers as well who make a return.
