Senior Championship! On Saturday evening Emmets play in the Senior Championship against Clontibret in Castleblayney at 6pm: Although we have been senior finals over the years this is the centenary since we last captured the title in 1919 when our opponents were also Clontibret. The final was played at Ballybay on Sunday 26th October. Favoured with a fine day it is estimated that over two-thousand people attended from Armagh, Louth, Fermanagh, Cavan and Monaghan. The procession to the Athletic Grounds took the form of a demonstration. Carrickmacross representing South Monaghan were accompanied by the Carrickmacross Foresters Brass Band. Clontibret Hugh O’Neills were headed by the Doohamlet War Pipe Band and Ballybay Foresters Band took up the rear of a procession fully three-mile long! When the final whistle sounded the score Carrickmacross one-goal and five points to no score for Clontibret! Carrickmacross; M Farmer, J Marron J Downey, M Keenan, McBride, Carragher, Donoghue, Murphy, Malone, McHugh, Ward, Phil Marron, Jerry Cumiskey, Jack Cumiskey, John Slevin.

Emmet Park! Thanks to all the Emmet people and individuals who helped at last Sunday’s Intermediate Championship game between Magheracloone and Tyholland. Everything went smoothly and we acknowledge the assistance we got from those that gave their time to lend a hand in staging the first championship fixture to be played in Carrickmacross for a number of years.

Summer Camp! The camp ends tomorrow (Friday) with the traditional Barb-b-Cue and after four days of activity everyone deserves a rest. All the participants will receive their beautiful designed “Homebake Café” top and we are grateful to Stephen for his continued support of the Emmet “Young Stars” Thanks to Declan Finnegan and his coaching crew who did a tremendous work in Ensuring that the kids enjoyed themselves.

Senior League! Emmets defeated Doohamlet in the last home game of the league in Emmet Park at the weekend. After conceding two goals after the thrown-in they successfully chawed their way back into the game and by half time they were leading by 2-10 to 2-02. It was a one-sided second half as Emmets scored at continuous regularity while the visitors struggled with their game. At the final whistle it was Emmets 4-20 O’Neills 2-04. With two games remaining against Castleblayney and Scotstown the table makes interesting reading with a host of teams still in with a chance of making the top four. Emmets lie in third position six-points behind Ballybay and two behind Clontibret but two ahead of Scotstown; with ten points at stake it will be tight at the top!
