It is all very tight at the top in the Junior league as we sit 5th in the table at the moment, just 4 points of 3rd spot. The little blip we experienced against Oram continued last weekend with a loss to Drumhowan who have moved to 4th spot, 1 point ahead. It is a break from the league for this weekend with the attention now turning to the championship and the opening round game on Friday August 9th at 8pm when we face Drumhowan.

It is championship time for the underage teams as well. The U13’s were in action last weekend when they went down to a strong Aughnamullen side, next up is Tyholland on August 10th. The U15’s are out tonight (Thursday 1st) when they travel to Drumhowan for a 7:30 throw in.

The U7’s and U9’s are continuing their training with Blitz’s on the horizons. With the Monaghan minor team suffering a defeat in the All Ireland championship, the focus will now turn back on the U17 club competition. St Mary’s Na Mullai were scheduled to play on Tuesday evening past against Patrick Emmets and will take to the field again on Tuesday next the 6th of August.

Foy’s SuperValu

There is an opportunity in association with Foy’s SuperValu in Cootehill to get a set of Jerseys for the Club. For every €30 spent in store, you get a voucher to place in a box. 2000 vouchers is the magic number so if we reach that we get the Jerseys. If shopping, be sure to get your voucher and place it in the box marked “Rockcorry”.

Lord Mayor Campaigns

Best of luck to Lord Mayor Candidate Philip Clarke, who takes on his 3 Peaks Challenge this Bank Holiday weekend when he climbs Slieve Donard in Co Down, followed by Mount Errigal in Donegal and wraps it up when he scales Croagh Patrick in Mayo. As a wrap up party to all that climbing a Tramps ball will be held in Lynch’s of Lisnalong on Sunday night 4th of August where it is not a case of Glad Rags but Bad Rags that will be on show. Prize for the worse dressed person. Music on the night with dancing from 10pm. Also place Sunday the 11th of August in your diary as the Minions are coming to Rockcorry to show their support for Lord Mayor candidate Caoilainn Gallagher. More details to follow.

Well done to Selina Lynch who hosted a great evening of entertainment with the Men’s V Ladies football match. Played in a very sporting but competitive manner, nothing could separate the sides at the end with Selina’s last minute penalty which would have won the game for the ladies coming crashing back of the crossbar. Word also has it that the senior management had spies on the terraces watching the action to see if any players could be drafted into the senior panel.
