Seniors: The seniors scored an impressive 2-18 to notch up a nine point away win in Emyvale last Friday evening. Donaghmoyne started brightly with points from Darren Coleman and Stephen Finnegan further scores from Darren McElroy and Davy Garland extended the lead and the Fontenoys seemed to be in complete control creating chances at will. As the first half wore on Donaghmoyne were pegged back by an Emyvale goal which reduced the lead to one point. Further points from Aaron Courtney, Coleman and Garland increased the lead but by the half time whistle the sides were level 1-6 to 9 points leaving the visiting supporters wondering why the game wasn’t already over as a contest. The second half started with Donaghmoyne opening up a two point lead with scores from Garland and Courtney, but once again the hosts struck back to leave the scores level. With 15 minutes left on the clock Donaghmoyne struck a decisive blow when a long ball played in by Niall Keenan found Aaron Courtney one on one with the Emyvale corner back. This chance would not go a begging as Courtney finished coolly to but Donaghmoyne in the driver’s seat. Three minutes later and another direct ball into Courtney resulted in another goal. The Emyvale resistance was broken and further points from Davy Garland left Donaghmoyne with a comfortable win.
