U17s: The U17s were in action last Tuesday and lost out in a high scoring affair to a strong Monaghan Harps team. Donaghmoyne started brightly and raced into an early lead but the Harps fought back strongly and were more determined for large parts of the first half and were six points ahead at the interval. A more focused effort in the second half from Donaghmoyne saw the side’s level as the game entered the closing stages but unfortunately the Fontenoys were unable to get their noses ahead and the Harps would eventually run out winners on a score line of 3-13 to 3-16.
Michael Duffy: Well done to juvenile coach Michael Duffy who raised €1482 for the club through the Intel Matching Grants Fund. This fund rewards clubs for the voluntary work carried out by Intel employees in community associations such as the GAA. Other large multinationals operate similar schemes so if you are volunteering in the club and are eligible please let us know.
Club Fund Raising: Once again we would like to thank everyone who has already paid their €250 donation towards the new pitch and track development. The walking track will soon be officially opened and the surface of the new pitch continues to really take shape. With all the children’s teams and adults training and playing it’s important that we all do what we can to complete this wonderful development. Anyone who has yet to make their donation can do so by calling into the Club Rooms any Monday evening at 9.00 pm, or online at Klubfunder.com where there are options to pay in full or by 10 monthly installments. Once again thank you for all your support. For Further details contact Andrew on 087-9671754.
Recent Deaths: The club would like to extend its sympathies to the family and friends of the late Peter Kelly, Dunany, Donaghmoyne . Peter was a talented footballer in his earlier days representing both Donaghmoyne and Monaghan at minor level. He was a keen supporter of the Fontenoys and will be sadly missed by everyone one at the club and in the wider community. We express our condolences to his wife Mary, and Children Deirdre, Noleen, Denise, Donal, Brendan, PJ, Niall, Bernard, Annemarie and Louise. Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam.
