The reserves are home on Saturday evening at 5-30 against Latton in the championship preliminary round. Please come along and support the lads.
Results: The U17s returned to winning ways on Tuesday evening with a comfortable win over neighbors Carrickmacross. Donaghmoyne started strongly scoring 3 goals with their first three attacks, Carrick were finding it difficult to clear their lines and on the rare occasions that they broke forward they found the Donaghmoyne rear were not giving away cheap scores. As the half wore on Donaghmoyne effectively ended the game as a contest and ran out convincing winners 7-23 to 1-6. The U15s lost out in their first outing of the season away to Killanny. It was better news for the U13s who continued their fine start to the season with a 2-9 to 0-8 victory over Blayney in division 1. Unfortunately the B team were unable to complete the double over Blayney as they lost out in a high scoring game 3-9 to 6-5. The seniors also maintained their strong start to the season with a one point margin over Monaghan Harps. The Harps started strongly racing into a 5 point lead before David Garland scored the first of his impressive 3-3 tally. Aaron Courtney added a second point before the first of Garland’s goals left the sides level. Donaghmoyne were now starting to exert more control on the game with Joe Kelly, Niall Keenan and Stephen Finnegan all impressing in the center field while the full back line of Stephen Cunningham and Stephen and Ciaran Martin were all starting to get on top of the Harps attack. A well worked attack saw Garland net for the second time but the Harps added the last scores of the first half to leave the sides level 2-2 to 8 points. The Second half saw points exchanged before Davy completed his hat trick to open up a 3 point lead, a long range score from Stephen Finnegan increased the lead to 4 points before Harps rallied scoring 3 unanswered points deep into injury time. Final score 3-5 to 13 points.
Monaghan U16s/17s: Donaghmoyne were well represented last weekend in the Buncranna Cup and Minor League finals. Unfortunately for the lads both teams lost out to Tyrone the U17s losing after extra time, well done to Liam Martin, Darragh Flannagan, Gavin McSkeane, Hugh Murnaghan, Sean McGinty, Darragh Watters and Gerry Finnegan who were all in the U16 squad and Liam McDonald, David Kerley and Declan Courtney who were in the U17 squad. We Wish Liam, David and Declan all the best as they prepare to face Down in the Ulster Championship this Saturday in Clones at 6.
