St. Mellans Handball:  Mono League. Beef may be a bad trade this weather but that wasn’t the case on Sunday evening as The Limousins defeated the Jerseys in the concluding night of the Mono League, first in was Christopher Meehan were he took on David O Reilly, David won this one 21-17, 21-10, next in was Kevin Treanor and Joe Kelly, this was a very tight affair as both shared games and points as both took a game each 21-13, 21-13, but the man that dealt the fatal blow was Barry Treanor as he rolled back the years and blew Aidan Keenan away on score line of 21-5, 21-3, this left the gap too big so the remaining two players of Ronan Boyle and John Treanor didn’t have to field, well done to The Limousins on their victory but well done to The Jerseys and all the other teams that made the league an enjoyable and a smooth running affair this season.
Adult Club Singles and Doubles. The Club Adult singles are well on the way so please ensure all games are played on the night and especially before the next game is due.
Cumann na mBunscol.  St.Mellans hosted the Cumann na mBunscol competition last Thursday the 21st of January, we had 13 player from 3 schools within the parish and surrounding area, there were 6 boys & 3 girls from Deravoy NS and 1 boy and 1 girl each from Clara NS and Edenmore NS, it was a very good and enjoyable outing for all but we had limited success as only Deravoy won the U11 Boys doubles with Myles Mc Meel & Ryan Kelly winning, there were also 2 more sets of finalists but they were beaten, Donnacha Mc Cluskey & Luke Mc Kenna made the U13 boys final and Deirbhile Kenny & Molly Flood made the U13 Girls Final, well done to all for taking part and hard luck to all that didn’t win, a big thanks to two men who have and continue to promote our game in all aspects, Michael Mc Carron and Martin Mc Entee were there from 9:30 til 12 o clock running of the competition, big thanks to both.
Registration Fee. Can all players please ensure that they have paid their membership in full as you insurance runs out at the end of January and you will be “uninsured” from then onwards.
