Juvenile County Championship Finals. We had the conclusion to most of the juvenile singles on Sunday evening last in Scotstown Complex, first in was Donnacha Mc Cluskey in the U12 boys final where he played Adam Richardson from the Harps, Donnacha ran into an early 8-0 lead but Adam never let up and clawed his way back to level and go in front 9-8 but after a time out Donnacha took the first game 15-11, in the 2nd game Adam started brightly being up 2-1 after a few ins and outs but then Donnacha took control with some good serving and won it and the title 15-5, next in representing the club was Aoibhinn Mc Cluskey in the girls U14 girls Singles final were she met Fiona Corrigan from Corduff, Aoibhinn won the first comfortably 15-0 but in the 2nd Fiona got into a good rhyme and had a few good serves and went into an 9-0 lead, but Aoibhinn came back and took the game and title on a score line of 15-13, then in was Aaron Cassidy where he played Aidan Cunningham from The Harps, Aidan would have been a strong favorite going into this game but Aaron put it up to him and only lost the game 7-15, 5-15, with a bit more time in the alley and more self belief Aaron could have made a far bigger statement in the alley, but next year he will be better prepared, then finally in the U17 final Ronan Boyle & Ryan Harnet met, I think the amount of time these boys have met internally at Mellans might not have helped the game as a spectacle as it hadn’t the intensity as had previous games, Ronan saw off Ryan on a score line of 15-7, 15-12, so well done to all the winners and hard luck to the runners-up, the U16 girls final and boys U13 final involving Eythna & John will be played at a later date.
Juvenile Team League. We have our Juvenile team league up and running and the games will be played on Wednesday & Friday evenings beginning @ 7pm, it will be a mixture of girls & boys, we will still continue to do our coaching on each night for the juveniles but some times might change slightly to allow the Mono League to begin a bit earlier, can all coaches ask the juveniles and parents to ensure that their child is registered, this will cover for insurance proposes also.
Mono League. The Mono League is progressing along nicely with pretty much all games played up to date, so please ensure you play you game on or before the allocated time, thank you.
Adult Singles. Anybody even outside the Mono League that wants to play in the Club singles please get your name in Brendy as we will be drawing up the draw as the Mono league draws to a close, so get your names in and “keep the ball rolling”.
Club Memberships. Can all adult captains try to make sure all players on their team have their membership paid, also can coaches of juveniles ask the same question of their juveniles, some adults might have to pay an extra 5 euro as to carry them up to the end of the registered year, the end of January, this is vitally important from an insurance point, thank you.
National Croke Park Draw. We are currently selling the Croke Park National Draw tickets for the handball club, they are 10 euro each and we asking all players to buy a ticket and if possible to sell a book for the club, we will also be approaching parents to support the cause, thanks to all.
