It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Pat Meehan on Saturday evening last. Pat was a lifelong stalwart of our club and served at all levels – former player, manager, chairman, committee member and true gael. We wish to extend our condolences to his wife Marion, to Lynn, Gary, Melissa, and extended family circle. Pat will be sadly missed by all members of our club. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
As a mark of respect to Pat Meehan RIP our Lotto Draw was cancelled last week and will resume this Sunday Night.
AGM will take place this Sun Dec 2nd at 3pm in St. Mellans.
St. Mellans Handball: Juvenile County Championships. We had the conclusion to the U15, U16 & U17 boys singles at the weekend, in the U15’s Noah Mc Meel had a tough assignment against Anthony Cunningham from the Harps and lost both games, Aaron Cassidy played Gary Treanor in the other semi where Aaron came out on top 15-11, 15-10, so Aaron now meets Anthony in the U15 final, in the U16’s we had also 3 players Padraig Treanor lost to Ben Mc Geough from Bawn 15-6, 15-11, and Mark Cassidy lost to Aidan Mc Geough in 2 straight games as so did new comer Aidan Mc Kenna lost to a very strong Symon Poleski in 2 games straight, hard luck boys, in the U17’s we have an all club final were Ronan Boyle will face his playing partner Ryan Harnet, in the semi’s Ronan defeated Killian Mc Nally 2-11, 21-10 and in the other Ryan beat Daryl Daly 21-3, 21-2, all finals are fixed for this Sunday in Scotstown Complex starting @ 4pm, both boys & girls, so far we have Donnacha Mc Cluskey in the U12 final, John Treanor in the U14 final, Aaron Cassidy in the U15 final and Ryan & Ronan in the U17 final, we still have the girls situation to be sorted before hand with several girls vying for a final slot, so this can’t be confirmed before these are played, but never the less good luck to all boys & girls that will be flying the club colours on Sunday.
Juvenile Team League. We have our Juvenile team league up and running and the games will be played on Wednesday & Friday evenings beginning @ 7pm, it will be a mixture of girls & boys, we will still continue to do our coaching on each night for the juveniles but some times might change slightly to allow the Mono League to begin a bit earlier, can all coaches ask the juveniles and parents to ensure that their child is registered, this will cover for insurance proposes also.
Schools One Wall. Well done to club girls Anna Mc Cabe and Aoibhinn Mc Cluskey who won an Ulster Doubles Title last week in Ballygawley in a One Wall Schools Competition as both were representing their school Beechill Monaghan and also to Elle Mc Kenna who was also taking part in the singles section, well done girls.
Club Memberhsip. Can all adult captains try to make sure all players on their team have their membership paid, also can coaches of juveniles ask the same question of their juveniles, this is vitally important from an insurance point, thank you.
