SFL Div 1 Final: Gaeil Triucha 1-14 v 1-11 Carrickmacross AET
An Old Friend Returned to the Parish of Truagh last Sunday 18th Nov 2018 in the form of the Owen Ward Cup. Our present Senior Squad matched the achievement of the brilliant Gaeil Triucha Team of the 1970’s and delivered a Senior Trophy for only the second time in our history. Emotions were high when Rory Treanor received the Owen Ward Cup and many of the 1975 winning squad were among the huge Gaeil Triucha contingent to witness the occcasion. In his winning speech Rory paid respects to the 1975 Winners but this occasion was all about the guts, determination and flair of our current panel. Great credit this year must go to the players and management team of Conleith Donnelly and Paudie O’Kane, and their team of helpers – Kieran McGinn, Charlie Treanor, Mickey Treanor and Team Medic Donna McMeel. With the introduction of many young players allied to the experience of our more seasoned campaigners Gaeil Triucha can look to the immediate future with great positivity. It was a proud day for the club and great to see the celebrations afterwards which meant so much to all involved.
