Ryan & James BU10A Doubles Winners Lough Showdown 2018
Presented by Chris Curran Loughmagrory Handball Club
The heat of last week only set the scene for competitors from Ireland Belgium & the UK to make the trip to Loughmacrory last weekend in numbers for the Lough WallballShowdown 2018 with Monaghan Handball having a great representation in all grades. Friday evening got underway with rounds of the BU10A doubles where Ryan McGeoughand James Cunningham paired up against a formidable Tyrone opposition  in their first game but the Monaghan lads where simple in a class of their own and cruised through to a semi-final on Sunday. Saturday morning started bright and early with Aidan Cunningham and Szymon Polewski playing in the B15&U singles with both reaching quarter finals. Sean Callan playing in the B13&U put on a exhibition to book his place in the final on Sunday. Sunday came with fresh hope of silverware with Christopher McKenna and Dermot Boyle contesting the Men’s Challenger with Christopher making the final. Paul Cassidy reached the semi final of the Silver Masters with Pete Larkin playing in the Diamond Masters Singles and Darren Doherty contesting the Men’s Open.
Sunday evening finished with Monaghan contesting two finals. Sean Callan in the B13&U played out of his skin but had to give way on this occasion.
The evening belonged to our young handballers, Ryan & James who put on an exhibition with overarm serves and kill shots and return of service that proved too strong for their Tyrone opposition winning the BU10A Doubles final in style.
B13&U Kyle Jordan (Kilkenny winner) Sean Callan (Monaghan R-up)
