Monaghan Harps Handball Club

Following on the excitement of the All-Ireland successes our club leagues have continued to to produce some excellent games. The Challenger 1 league has been terrific with Josh Cassidy as the clear leader. He is closely followed by Konrad Oleksy. Not far behind are Natan Reglec, Kristian Kumpis, Jake Cassidy and Conor O’Neill. Future champions in the making.

The Challenger 2 league is too close to predict but Adam Richardson and Robert Uskan have had an excellent start with both amassing plenty of points. Calum Sherry is in contention  as is Joseph O’Neill. But the clear favourite has to be Emily Mc Ginnity. Watch this space.
The Dark Blue League has two clear favourites. They are Aidan Mc Geough and Aidan Cunningham. Both are due to meet each other shortly. Adrian Kumpis is not far behind. Perhaps a surprise leader will emerge from this group.
There is a further advanced league to be organised to include Louise Mc Ginnity, Tiarnán O’Rourke, Szymon Polewski and others.
The Junior National Trials start this weekend with qualifiers being staged across the country to produce top young players to travel as part of Team Ireland to the World Handball Championships in Minnesota in August will commencé next week. Good luck to Mathew Sweeney B19&U who travels to Abbeyknockmoy Galway and Aidan McGeough B13&U who travels to Kells both games are on Saturday at 12noon. All Ulster venues are being used for the finals including our court at Monaghan Harps. This is a great honour for us to have the top players as our guests. More details next week.
Finally hard luck to Martin Mc Entee and Peter Larkin who narrowly lost the Diamond Masters semifinal in Carlow last week. The scores were 12-17, 21 -11
