Scotstown won their third consecutive SFC title with a commanding display against Magheracloone in Sunday’s final in Clones. Man of the Match Conor McCarthy hit 1-8 for the winners, while Darren Hughes got the other goal and their Monaghan team-mate Rory Beggan also impressed in goals.

Hughes hit the net as early as the fifth minute and with McCarthy proving elusive throughout for the Magheracloone defence, Scotstown were 1-9 to 0-6 clear at half-time. Tommy Freeman and Gavin Doogan helped to keep Magheracloone within striking distance in the third quarter, but a cracking goal by McCarthy put Scotstown beyond reach and they finished with eight scorers to ensure that their captain Dónal Morgan lifted the Mick Duffy Cup once again. Scotstown will return to Clones to face Donegal champions Kilcar in the Ulster Club SFC quarter-finals on Sunday week (October 29).
