Doohamlet GFC Notes   Seniors:  The curtain came down on our playing season on Sunday last.  We would like to thank the players for all their efforts all season.  Unfortunately injuries to key players and losing players to immigration was just to much for our small panel to compete at Senior level We needed all our resources. Many thanks to Trevor Duffy, Paul O’Connor, Shane McManus and Gavin Duffy for all the hard work and sacrifices they made.  You done your club proud, winning an Intermediate double in 2015, and will forever be remembered in the history of Doohamlet GFC. Gerry’s Fundraiser 2016:  Gerry McElroy will host his Annual Fundraising Dance in Lisdoonan Community Centre on Saturday 5th Nov.  Star attraction will be Robert Mizzell with dancing from 9.30pm to 1.30am.  All proceeds in aid of local Senior Citizen Groups.  Please support this worthy cause. Doohamlet National School:  The children of All Saints National School invite the whole community to a Bake Sale and Coffee Morning on Friday 28th Oct from 9.20am to 12pm.  Your support is much appreciated.  Finally don’t forget our End of Season Breakfast morning and Juvenile Medal Presentations on Sunday morning next in the Golden Jubilee Hall.  Adults €7 and children U12 eat free. Doohamlet GFC Notes   Lorcan Duffy Cup:  Well done to all concerned on a very well run Golf classic held on Saturday last at Mannan Castle. Special mention to Greg Duffy and Dessie McBennett who left no stone unturned to make this competition a magnificent success.  Congrats to the winning team Gene McGuigan, Brian Morgan, Jim Fanning and Noel Reilly and also to the winners of the Lorcan Duffy Cup Doohamlet who were represented by Greg Duffy, Dessie McBennett, Paul Campbell and P.J. Harte. We would like to thank all our Sponsors who without these people this competition would not be possible. P.J. Marray Memorial Blitz:  On Saturday 1st October a sun drenched O’Neill Park welcomed over 50 boys and girls for the 2016 P.J. Marray Memorial Blitz.  The players were divided into four teams who played off round robin style to determine the cup and shield finalists. The Shield final  between Mayo and Dublin was end to end for the first half, with both teams exhibiting some superb skills, before the Mayo team led by captain Ben Treanor pulled away to win the P.J. Marray shield. The cup final between Monaghan and All Stars proved to be a thrilling shootout with both teams throwing caution to the wind in an all out attacking match. Monaghan led by 1 point at the interval but All Stars led by captain Harry Doherty finished strongly to win by the narrowest of margins and secure the P.J. Marray Cup. After refreshments were served, Conor Marray representing The Marray Family presented  winning captains Harry Doherty and Ben Treanor with the cup and shield.  Conor also presented Player of the Tournament trophies to Mollie Doherty and Jack Treanor. We would like to thank everyone who helped with the organisation and running of this wonderful day and especially our fantastic juveniles for providing such a feast of football and fun. Fixtures:  Our Seniors travel to Latton this Sunday for our penultimate game in the Senior league. Doohamlet GFC Club Notes    Senior Championship:  Doohamlet were eliminated from the 2016 Greenfield Foods Senior Championship on Saturday evening last but not before giving our neighbours Clontibret a very competitive game. Missed chances and a few wrong options taken proved costly for Doohamlet and the main difference between the two teams was the shooting accuracy from Conor McManus who gave an exhibition of score taking. For Doohamlet Colin Walshe, Ciaran McManus, Kevin McArdle, Michael Marray and Niall J. Connolly impressed throughout. Our younger players Conor Marray, Jamie Walshe, Barry McGinn, Damian Ward all U21 years of age can be very happy with their performances and  can only learn and gain experience from playing such illustrious opponents.  Doohamlet now  as a team must focus on our remaining league fixtures and ensure we play this grade of football next season.    We wish Clontibret all the best in the remainder of this competition. Wedding Bells:  Congratulations to Gary Boylan and Nicola Malone who were married recently  in All Saints Church.
