Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 1, 6, 7 and 19. Jackpot of €4,700 not won. Thanks to everyone for their support for our Lotto, which has now played a critical role in our club’s funding for 25 years.

 

Charity match: Our annual charity match takes place at Gavan Duffy Park on Saturday, December 28 at 3pm. Funds raised from this always enjoyable day will go to a local charity/charities to be named at a later date. Sponsorship cards are available from this weekend in the clubhouse and from Mary White and Owen Connell. We invite all Harps members and all Gaels home for Christmas to join us on the day.

 

Scór na nÓg: Congratulations to the club members who represented the club in the Scór na nÓg Ulster semi-final in Stradone, Co Cavan last Sunday. The club’s representatives were: Dearbhla Ní Mhearáin (Solo Singing); Eoin Mac Cléire (Recitation); Amy Nic Dónaill, Hannah Nic Uaid, Caoimhe Ní Néill, Ally agus Ethan Mac Cearúin (Ballad Group); and Sarah Ní Raghailligh, Eoin Mac Cléire, Scarlett Ní Earáin, Aaron Mac Thaidhg, Halla Ní Eachaidh, Kayligh Nic Amhlaigh, Kelsey Nic an tSaoi agus Daithí Ó Gabhláin (Novelty Act). Eoin and Dearbhla will now progress to the Ulster finals. Comhghairdeas leo.

 

Awards: Well done to our own Aodhán Óg McAnespie and Kevin Loughran on being named on the Monaghan IFC All-Star team for 2019. Congratulations to Eoghan McGinnity on once again being named Young Handballer of the Year and to our Cultural Officer Joe Ó Gallchóir and everyone involved in Scór in our club, which will see the Harps recognised for Best Contribution to Scór and Culture at next month’s county awards night.

 

AGM: The club’s Annual General Meeting took place in our clubhouse on November 28. The following committee was elected for 2020: Chairman: Jimmy Croarkin; Vice-Chairman: Mel McMorrow; Secretary: Nicola Shalvey; Treasurer: Dermot Coyle; Assistant Treasurers: Charlie Shalvey & Rose Donnelly; Registrar: Kevin Treanor; PRO: Colm Shalvey; Development Officer: John Hahessy; Cultural Officer: Joe Ó Gallchóir; Health & Wellbeing Officer: Úna Forde: Insurance Officer: Ann Treanor; County Board delegate: Fergus Coyle. The positions of Youth Officer; Coaching Officer; and Children’s Officer were deferred to the next club meeting. Thanks to all our committee members, all who attended and everyone who contributes to the club on an ongoing basis. Thanks to all outgoing club officers and to those who have taken up these roles on the committee.

 

Upcoming events: We host our annual Charity Match on Saturday, December 28. Our annual Juvenile Presentation is scheduled for January 17.

 

Church-gate collection: Our church-gate collection takes place this weekend. Please let Rose Donnelly know if you are available to help out.

 

Schools: Good luck to all club players currently competing in schools’ competitions.

 

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Please contact Paudge Connolly on 085 8589135 or Rose Donnelly on 086 0825782 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

 

Hurling:

Last Man Standing Competition: Week nine of the competition was completed last weekend with further drama. A draw for Crystal Palace has proved costly for some and we are left with only two entrants. Keep an eye on our social media accounts for further updates!

Committee: Following a committee meeting on Tuesday, November 26, a full committee for 2020, including the Secretary’s post, was ratified. Presentation Night: Our Seniors and U-14s received their respective runners-up medals in the clubhouse on Friday, November 29. A great night was had by all.
