Castleblayney Hurling Club Notes 19th Sept 2019

U7/U9 The new season training will commence indoors on Tuesdays from 6-7pm in Castleblayney College gym starting Feb 26th 2020.

The U8½ had a great day’s hurling at the Omagh blitz playing Lisbellaw, Dungannon, St Paul’s and Omagh in the final. Well done to Liam Duffy, Bobby O’Brien, Iollan Murphy, Ryan Burke, Emmet Malone, Michael Murphy, Max Lambe, Shay Mallie, Aaron Gurn, Donnchadh Sheehan & Oran Nugent.

U10½’s We fielded two teams at U10½ at the Naomh Eanna, An Omaigh Invitational Hurling Tournaments. After 5 rounds of hurling against teams from Derry, Antrim and Tyrone, one of our teams went down to Cootehill on the Shield Semi-final with the other being pipped in the Shield Final by Naomh Pol, Belfast. Congratulations to all the lads who took part in what our final tournament for 2019. Some excellent skills on display in very competitive games against teams from across Ulster! Many thanks to Naomh Eanna for the invitation. Well done to all the juveniles on a very successful year.

U13 Champions Congratulations to our U13 team who completed this year’s league and championship double by winning the Monaghan U13 championship final on Monday last in Cloghan. The old saying “goals win games” proved to be true as the Blayney lads emerged victorious on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-8. The standard of hurling throughout was excellent from both teams and huge credit goes to the management and players for their hard work and commitment throughout the year.

Good Luck At the time of writing our U15 team are preparing for the Monaghan League final to be played this Wednesday in Cloghan at 6pm. Monaghan Harps are the opponents this time round and no doubt the lads will do everything in their power to cap off what has been a really memorable and successful year of juvenile hurling across all grades. The club are indebted to all of our wonderful coaches who give up their valuable time to coach our young players and instil in them a love for the game of hurling. The result of Wednesdays U15 final will be available across all of our social media platforms.

Senior Team Our Ulster Intermediate championship quarter final is fast approaching. On 13th Oct, we will take on the Down Intermediate champions at a home venue yet to be confirmed. More details on this fixture in the coming weeks.
