Support is everything! Winners: David O’Rourke got the €50 voucher. Sheamus Mulholland and Ciaran McMahon got a €20 voucher each while the €10 voucher was won by Gary McEneaney.

Under-Fifteen Football! It was tough going for the under 15 division four team when they went under to St Mary’s Na Mullai in the league final in Drumhowan. The first half was very close but the height advantage and the fact that the opposing team was an amalgamated side compounded the effort of the Emmet boys who eventually had to settle for second best. Nevertheless they are to be congratulated on reaching the final and in doing so they overcame the odds and produced some exceptional results along the way.  The division one team had Magheracloone as visitors to Emmet Park for a decider as to who would make the final of the league competition and after their drawn match the previous week a close encounter was anticipated. However the Emmets were not hanging about and went about their business in workmanship style preventing their opponents any reasonable grip on the play. Scoring was a premium and the home side amassed 1-19 while the visitors ended the game on 2-04.

Senior League! The big local match this weekend (Friday 8pm) is in Emmet Park against local rivals Inniskeen who have been motoring well in the league and are currently in fourth position just a point behind the Emmets. Although Carrick won the first match in Inniskeen it can be expected that this fixture will be closely contested and entertaining as both sides fight to remain in the top four. Meanwhile Emmets are biding time and waiting to get back to full strength for the run-in of the league and for the looming Senior Championship.

Monaghan Minors! Once again the Emmet club sends their best wishes to Conor Capaldi and Nathan McCaul when they make the journey to Tullamore as the Monaghan team take on the might of Cork in the All-Ireland quarter final at 6-00pm. Let’s hope they have they another successful result to remember with a semi-final spot within their sight!
