Seniors: We are away to Seán McDermotts in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League on Friday at 8pm. Please support!

U-11: Our U-11s play their Spring League Final against Emyvale in on Friday at 6pm. Good luck to all involved!

Reserves: We fell to a narrow defeat away to Emyvale in the RFL Division 1B last Friday. Shane McMahon led our scoring as we took the lead early on, but we failed to convert several chances and Emyvale came back to lead by 1-6 to 0-6 at half-time. A second Emyvale goal opened a gap between the teams and although we managed a string of points from Shane, Oisín Fagan, Francis Lynch and Lochlainn Power, we fell short on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-15.

Team and scorers: Dylan McAree; Niall McManus, Carl Foentjies, Jamie Shields; Kevin Lyden, James McKenna (Capt.), Thomas Croarkin; Dylan McKenna, Gary White; Oisín Fagan (0-2), Shane McMahon (0-10, 7f), Niall Greenan (0-1); Nathan O’Donoghue, Evan Doherty, Francis Lynch (0-1).

Subs: John Mulligan for Foentjies (inj.), David Lowry for Greenan, Lochlainn Power (0-1) for O’Donoghue, Conor Duffy for Shields, Colm Shalvey for Mulligan (inj.).

We lost out at home to Clones in Division 2B last Wednesday. Clones took charge of this game with four first-half goals and although Conn O’Hanlon lobbed one in at the other end, we were left facing an uphill task. The likes of Niall Greenan and Oisín Fagan were on target in the second half, but the visitors’ goal-scoring left them comfortable winners.

Team and scorers: Dylan McAree; Niall Treanor, Ben Kearns-Flynn, Conor Campbell; Kevin Lyden, Carl Foentjies, Oisín Fagan (0-2); Conn O’Hanlon (1-0), Conor Callan; Brendan McQuaid, Niall Greenan (Capt., 0-5, 3f), Luke Coyle; Nathan O’Donoghue (0-1f), Evan Doherty (0-1), Colm Shalvey.

Subs: Ruairí Forde for Fagan, Conor Flynn for Coyle.

We are due to host Corduff in Division 2B on Sunday at 6pm.

U-17/U-15: The U-17 and U-15 Football Leagues are on a break for the next few weeks.

U-13: Our U-13 teams were involved in a high-scoring double-header away to Castleblayney last Saturday. Our Division One team managed to keep their winning form going on a scoreline of 9-8 to 6-12. The leagues continue on Saturday week (June 15).

Cúl Camp: The Kellogg’s Cúl Camp returns to Gavan Duffy Park from July 8-12.

Coaching: Our Saturday-morning coaching for our youngest players is up and running for 2019. The club is very fortunate to have a pool of hardworking and dedicated individuals who look after and coach these “early learners”. Our Saturday-morning activities are fun-filled and enjoyed by the children and are an equally rewarding and enjoyable experience to those who help make it happen, so we encourage anyone with an interest to get involved.

Registration: Registration fees for 2019 are now overdue but can still be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. Please note that all juvenile and adult players must be paid-up members. Fees are as follows: U-11s €20; juveniles/seniors €30; family membership €60.

County: Good luck to Neil McAdam and the Monaghan senior footballers in Sunday’s game against Fermanagh in Clones.

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Please contact Paudge Connolly on 085 8589135 or Rose Donnelly on 086 0825782 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

Pitches: Training schedules for all teams are in place. Coaches are asked to please ensure that gates and dressing rooms are locked and all equipment, bottles etc. is removed from the pitch after training sessions.

Hurling: We travelled to Latton on Thursday last for the penultimate round of the Silver Hill Foods Development Hurling league, looking to get back on track after three disappointing results in recent weeks. While slow to find our feet, the Harps eventually settled into the game with points from Mark Murphy and Brendan McQuaid. A couple of fine points from Ruairí Forde and goals from Cillian Sherry midway through the half saw the Harps grasp some sense of control over the game. The Harps were miserly in defence throughout, with players such as Dylan McAree and Niall McManus providing a platform to build attacks throughout the second half. Introductions at half-time assisted this, with scores from Murphy and Conor O’Neill strengthening the Harps position to finish as winners.

Team: S McLoughlin, J Lowry, D McAree, A Greenan; J Treanor, N McManus, L Treanor; B McQuaid, C McQuaid; T Croarkin, M Murphy, R Forde; C Sherry, L Mulligan, C McKenna.

Subs: C O’Neill for Forde, A Mooney for Sherry, S McKenna for J Treanor.

Ladies:

U-14s: Hard luck to our U-14s, who were defeated by St. Brigid’s in round four of the league on bank holiday Monday. With the Harps missing up to 12 players due to injuries and other commitments, the girls acquitted themselves very well and have closed the gap on Brigid’s since their championship defeat. Next up is an away game v Donaghmoyne next Monday evening. Time TBC.

U-12s: Well done to the U-12s, who defeated Scotstown at home last Friday in the North Monaghan league. Next up is an away game v Truagh tomorrow (Friday) at 6.30pm.
